Well my world travels are moving me to NYC till x-mas next tuesday to trade cotton options and futures on the floor. I have friends up there and i know pretty much all of the obvious things to do and places to see. There is a plethera of info filled people here, so I was wondering if any of you knew anything interesting, exciting, exotic, naughty,gambling, drinking ect in and around NYC.

Be prepared to pay $19.95 for 2 eggs, 2 pieces of sausage, and a piece of toast for breakfast in most major hotels. Some will even throw in a 4 ounce cup of juice. Bring plenty of money as everything is expensive. But one of the most fun places you could ask for.
Trust me ferdville, in know about the cash disposal up there. I'm staying in an apartment on 27th.
If you know where to go & where not to go, you should enjoy NYC.A single male in NYC can really have a great time.Obviously if funds are tight stay out of the hotels.There are many small restaurants & diners where you can have an inexpensive meal.Living on 27th street you can hop on a bus or take a train downtown to Chinatown or Little Italy for some real quality meals.If you want to have drinks & meet people of the opposite sex you can go downtown again to Soho or Grenwich Village,either in the evenings or on Sat. or Sun. during the day or evenings.There are bars,jazz clubs,or after hour places where you are sure to meet some interesting people.Also a nice way to spend a day is to go uptown to Central Park.On a beautiful weekend day this place is overflowing with "beautiful" people.
I would stay away from the topless joints because before you know it you may be spending money that you are not aware of.I was once in one of these places & this beautiful girl came on to me.At first I thought my persona (LOL)attracted her to me.After a few minutes talking to her she asked me to buy her a drink & before I knew it she was ordering top of the line champagne.When I objected this enormous guy told me I had to pay for it.So I did.And I learned my lesson.And I am passing it along.But you don't need to go to these places because NYC is an easy place to score with chicks.
You can rent a car for a day or two & head down to Atlantic City.It is about a 2-21/2 hour car ride from NYC.I am not a horse player& am not sure what is opened,but Belmont Park,Aquaduct is about 1 hour from NYC.On the way to Atlantic City you will pass Monmouth Park Racetrack.Again don't know if it is opened.I'm sure you know about Yankee Stadium & Shea Stadium for baseball.During basketball there is the Knicks,Nets,& St.Johns University.All within about 1 hour from NYC.Hockey there is the Rangers,Islanders,& Devils.Football the Jets & Giants both play in the same stadium.If you have never been in NY before I strongly recommend you go at least once to Yankee Stadium or Madison Sq.Garden.These places are landmarks.
NYC is a great place to be during Christmas Season.Believe it or not it is really beautiful.Especially Rockerfeller Center.
I'm sure that co-workers will also recommend places.There are some great happy hour places down there.Also an opportunity to meet many nice looking people.
By working in the Wall Street area you will be in walking distance of the WTC site.I have been told by people who visited that site that it is very moving.
I am sure that once you get acclamated,you will have a blast.I am actually jealous(LOL).Enjoy!

Was there for two months earlier this year as I switched brokerage firms and had a blast. Stayed in upper west side at Broadway and 75th area. Close to the park and there are some great bars there. If you remember the bars at Auburn, it is like Harry's. A good time, went there just about every night because beers were cheap. It was called Yogi's and I think it is at 76th and Broadway. Swillhole, but fun. Have a good time and see if you can find the Auburn alumni club there to watch the games.

AR152, i am single and i am looking. I hear it is tough up there with a bunch of golddiggers, but i think that is any where. As for baseball, the mets are my fav team, but it looks like the punks are going to strike so i won't have to worry about the baseball games. I haven't been to the Meadowlands since i was last in NY and that was to see the New Jersey Generals play with Doug and Hershel.
I think i am living in the Chelsea area... I hear there are lots of "sweet" people in that area. I hope it is not true...
Doughboy, i will be a monkeys uncle if there are bars like Harrys (where the elite meet) in NYC, but i will take your word for it. Finding an auburn alum club would be good if we can put together a decent season this year.

You can find alot of little neighborhood grocery stores or sometimes they call them "delis." They are more like buffets and you can eat at reasonable prices in them. AR182 is right about the hotels - that is where you can get clobbered on bills. It is also a great place to walk. I did alot of walking when I was there two years ago and didn't experience any problems - but was staying in pretty nice area because wife was there on business and her company was picking up tab. But I ventured out from Central Park to Times Square area, as well as Rockefeller Center, etc. Didn't find it dangerous or anything else. And those Sobret hot dogs are really good - even though they may have been cooking in that dirty water for hours!!! You will love it!
