---------------------------------------------Kenny Jonsson made the trip to Ottawa and was cleared to practice after suffering what was called a "mild" concussion early in Saturday's loss to the Bruins. Jonsson spent an hour on the ice yesterday and is considered PROBABLE for tonight's game against the Senators. He has four goals and 10 points with a plus-4 rating while logging 25:25 of ice time a game

The Islanders, some of whom flew to their hometowns to celebrate Christmas, arrived in Ottawa and practiced yesterday. The Senators played in Boston last night. On no days rest, Ottawa is 1-3 ATS, on 3+ days rest, The Isles are 4-0-2 ATS

Shane Hnidy had only four shifts before he fell over backward and twisted his left foot. He tried to return but could barely stand. He was to be examined last night or this morning, and could end up joining fellow defencemen Chris Phillips and Karel Rachunek on the injured list.

After allowing 8 PP in New York coaches and players said: ?we were undisciplined and took too many penalties. It was difficult to generate anything when we were killing so many penalties.? Expect them to be cautious again tonight, as they where against Boston.
Although they've only played .500 hockey for the past few weeks, the Senators head into the two-day Christmas break still in the playoffs. That's a blessing, but it could easily be worse in the tight Eastern Conference.
The team mission is clear : "WE HAVE TO GET ON SOME SORT OF STREAK,".
"If we keep playing .500 hockey -- win one, lose one -- it's probably going to catch up with us."
.
