Oakland +3? @ Indianapolis 53
Oakland made this trip last year and got absolutely blind-sided. Peyton Manning came out with guns blazing in a totally unexpected no-huddle offense, completing 14 of his first 15 passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns while staking the Colts to a 21-0 lead. When the smoke finally cleared Oakland had battled to make the score 24-7. Then the Raiders put up 31 straight points on Indy?s sorry-ass defense, winning the game by a final of 38-31.
I love this game. I love the smell of it, the look of it, the taste of it. I love the black hats vs. the white hats of it. I love the Sunday night scheduling of it too. It?s the classic clash involving the contender and the pretender. And the pretender is giving the points! Apparently, Oakland don?t dig bein? dissed by the line, neither, because they?ve copped the cash 7 straight times as an underdog of more than 3.
The reports I?ve read concerning the pasting Indy received from the Pats last time out say that there was nothing fluky about NE?s 44-13 win. The Pat?s defense got rough and seemed to intimidate the vaunted offense of the Ponies. Hmmm, I wonder if Oakland?ll play rough and try to be as menacing as New England was. Ya know somethin?? The more I think about it, the more I?m seriously considerin? takin? out another mortgage. Did I mention that I love this game? RAIDERS +3?
