Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
A friend of mine who works for ATT, recently got back from a week in Manilla. He was on company time, working with a major call center.

His name is Robert, he is in late 40's, not very adventuresome, so his exposure was limited to a nearby 5 star hotel and a short ride to the call center, back and forth.

Here were some of his observations....other than Hot, Humid, and smelly.

The average worker in Manilla makes 7 bux a day, the ATT call center pays 10 for an 8 hour day.

He was told by ATT upper management that it was not safe for him as a foreigner to go out at nite, so he didn't.

When out day-time shopping for knock-off designer stuff, don't use your cell phone, someone WILL steal it.

Many children are trained and starved to be street beggars; there is a syndicate that abducts young provincial children for this purpose...so as much as it broke his heart, he did not donate.

He pretty much stayed in his room, drank beer and ate over-priced hotel fare.

The everyday people he did have contact with, were very friendly.

....Flight was about 21 hours.....he took serious medication, as he does not fly well.

end of story....
