For some strange reason, Arizona Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin is listed at 50/1 to win the 2006-2007 NFL MVP trophy. It's especially strange when you consider the following:
- No wide receiver has ever won the award.
- No Arizona Cardinal has ever won the award.
- Your team usually needs to have at least a winning record to be in consideration for the award.
- Arizona has not had a winning season since 1998.
- You usually need to be the best player at your position to be in contention for the award.
- Anquan Boldin is listed as the #2 WR on his own team, behind Larry Fitzgerald (who is listed at 40/1 to win the MVP)
It's preposterous, sure. But the Cardinals could turn it around this year, right? And if that happens, I'm sure Anquan Boldin will outshine Fitzgerald, Edgerrin James, Kurt Warner and/or Matt Leinart on his way to the MVP trophy.
