If you think these are funny....

I went to a wedding a couple of weeks ago. A buddy of the groom & I began chatting about my work in the sportsbook industry.

He goes on to tell me that he used to work for several touts (dropped some big names) where he was writing big business for them.

The funny thing with the places he's worked is they're not looking for $25 a game.... they're looking for $10-$50,000 for a season. (basically, whatever they can bleed people for).

Nevertheless, the guy was quite entertaining. He bragged about how good he was so I talked him into giving me a couple of his best pitches.

Let me tell you, this guy could sell. It's so hard for me to believe though that people would send that kind of cash.

You should've heard him reeling off the stories....

The alumni booster pitch where he finds out where someone went to school & tells them that's one of the schools they've arranged deals with. There's one game a year that the athletic director & coaches fix just to say thank you to their loyal boosters that have made donations.

Or the fumbled snap story where his "insider" on a certain campus gave him info that the QB walked in on the center screwing his girl. "How's he going to be able to take a snap from him on Saturday". He "guarantees" at least one fumbled snap.

Or how about the "your picks are going to lose" pitch.... He'll get someone to tell him who they're betting on over the weekend. He says they usually tell him about 4 games. He'll say, "I'll be completely honest w/ you... 3 of those games I know nothing about. But the 4th, you've got the wrong side. So instead of betting a dime on each game, send me a dime & bet 3 dimes on my game." He'll have a go going crazy which game it is.

I can't possibly do him justice by writing his pitches.... he's definitely got the gift of gab though.

Thought you'd all like to hear what some people buy into nowadays....
