Well I figured I would rely on my MJ brothers for help instead of anyone else. I'm going to Lone Star Park tomorrow for the race and to put some money down. In you guys expert opinion what bet should I make on the big one? Thanks in advance and good luck on your bets.

Not an expert but have been around the track most of my life. My father and sister had horses traing here.

Unless you can find a horse that you really believe can upset BB I would lay off. He'll probably go off at 1-5. The old saying is if you have the 5 why do you want the 1? GL.

BIG BROWN over #4 Denis of Cork and #7Tale of Ekati also #8 Anak Nakal so my ticket will look like this #1/#4,#7,#8 exacta may play trifecta with these numbers also. Yes there is another saying about a horse paying 1/5 that the bank want give you 1/5 in 3 minutes but a bank want break down in 3 minutes I have bet 2/5 and 3/5 horses enough to know that they break down or a closer nipps them at the wire. Foolish to bet any horse at 1/5

In the derby Denis of Cork and Tale of Ekati where really going at the wire, this makes me think that they will run well in this race also there well rested,Casino drive may run well but if you bet horses you know its hard for the two chalks to run 1-2.I'm a sucker for BIG BROWN

Could be a bridge jumper on BB so if you could find a horse to put $100 on to show then if BB doesnt hit the board then you have a chance to make some money.

I know everyone wants to bet this race but there are so many other choices on the undercard.

Really do you want to bet a 1-5 shot?

Just remember that Big Brown paid out as good and better for Place and Show in the Preakness.

He paid $2.40 to win, $2.60 to place, and $2.40 to show. So much more money came in on him to win that the place paid more.
If you are going to play him to win then you might as well put some on place as well. $100 on each would get you back $50 on those numbers. High risk for little reward.

Who gives a shit if we lose a couple of bucks?

Big Brown over Macho Again....again.

I can't bet the big fella, but I'm putting $50 on this exacta. (Big Brown/Macho Again)

I saw him at the Derby, and this is a BIG animal. I hope he gets it done....

The last time I was at the Derby, I saw Barbaro win. BB is not near the attractive animal he was, but I really want to see this....

This is a quote from an article I posted in IE's thread:
"Hall of Fame trainer Nick Zito has been on the winning and losing ends of this race. When Birdstone won the 2004 Belmont Stakes before a record crowd of 120,139 and spoiled Smarty Jones? Triple Crown bid, it was Zito?s first Belmont winner in 18 starts. In eight of those losses, Zito finished second.

This time, he again is in a spoiler?s role and will run Four Roses Thoroughbreds? Anak Nakal and Robert V. LaPenta?s Da?Tara in the Belmont Stakes.

?Anak Nakal and Birdstone are a lot alike,? Zito said. ?Both had good two-year-old years: Birdstone won the Champagne and Anak Nakal won the Kentucky Jockey Cup. They both ran well in the Wood Memorial. And then they had good races in the Kentucky Derby. By good races, I mean that Birdstone finished eighth, not 18th. Anak Nakal finished seventh, not 17th. So, the Belmont is a race in which they can improve, and Anak Nakal is bred to go the distance, so why not??

Anak Nakal is a son of Victory Gallop, who won the 1998 Belmont Stakes and ended Real Quiet?s hopes for a Triple Crown. "

I believe (and of course, my opinion only) that Zito is going to try hard as hell to spoil Big Brown's chances of a triple crown, hell he has 2 horses entered, Anak Nakal and Da' Tara...you know one of them will probably be used as a rabbit and try to try and soften up Big Brown. The quarter crack kind of bothers me, inspite of all the connections saying it's not a big deal....well at a 1 1/2 miles, I think it might affect his last eighth.

I am still playing him on top of my exacta and tri, but I'm not betting a lot on money on this race...

As for Smart Enuf, he is one of my picks for the day...but you know how that goes... :mj07:

Don, Good Luck Today.
