As most of you know, a lot of the discussion revolving around Oklahoma this year, is whether or not Oklahoma's offense will be improved from last year. In early November with Nate Hybl as the starting QB (he is the backup this year), Oklahoma beat Tulsa 58-0!

This game will be a walk for Oklahoma. The talent level mis match is way to much. In addition, due to injury last year, starting QB Jason White has only seen about 11 quarters of real action. Because of this, he will play three quarters regardless of the score and Oklahoma will not call off the dogs and just hand it off up the middle with Alabama coming to Norman next week. (They would still score 30 if they did hand it off up the middle every play.)

The defense will get one score and the special teams will get one as well. In last year's Cotton Bowl, Arkansas had 50 yards of total offense against the Sooner D. Tulsa won't get much more. The final margin for this one will be over 40 points. Play OU and get your weekend off to a good start.

Never in my life have I said this, but GO SOONERS!
(win or lose, if my family asks me, I will deny it, will just have to come up with a good reason for all the "Hell Yes's" the wife hears tonight):shade:

tulsa ok
ou-tulsa "scrimmage"

ou-tulsa "scrimmage"

Few additional thoughts from local paper...Tulsa knows it is not going to win this game...last year's campaign was a horrible 1-10
Injuries and QB controversy contributed heavily to this..
This year Tulsa returns 9 players on off 7 def...Coach Burns QB
pick Tyler Gooch is a scrambler with 6 starts under his belt. New offensive co-or from throw happy kentucky Dan Lounsbary on board.. lots of juco transfers at wr this year....loss of Donald Shoals ( 1st team wac ) hurts this year..RB Richardson back, he is pretty solid runner behind improved OL..
OU picked #1 in country only weakness...getting ball in endzone
going to retool run game and more vertical passing game...need to execute..kicking game.. new deep snapper, punter and FG kicker...Defense..big shoes to fill but they are very deep..

Coach Burns believes that since last years 58-0 loss at Norman
TU is better in the secondary and in the defensive interior and linebacker-THOUGH NOT NECESSARILY IN THIS GAME because Michael Dulaney + Jason Wiltshire are hobbled by injuries..he worries that some one on one battles may be physical mismatches..

Bottom line OU will get a chance to look not only at its starters but virtually everyone on travel roster..this is a tuneup game for Alabama next week at Norman.
Tulsa has one very winnable game at Arkansas St next week, after that Louisiana Tech,Baylor,Kansas,Boise ST, Hawaii..
This is a tuneup game for the rest of the season..3 or 4 losses in a row could send them in another nose-dive season..Tulsa must
give a spirited effort no matter how ugly it may get...they can not afford injuries at key positions..Stoops has no reason to run this
score up, he is saving that for Les Miles and Okie ST, may happen anyhow..GLTA

Maybe Tulsa will get another shot at the record books?

"The most points ever scored against a I-A opponent came in 1968 when Houston beat Tulsa 100-6. "

And while I have all you okies on one thread......

OU Sucks! :p

:nono:

The Sonners appear to be the play, but there are better fish in the pond tomorrow.

Won't touch it personally.

Need to use spell check more often, wasn't trying to trash my SOONER friends. I happen to think Booby Stoops is the best coach in college football at present.

Sorry about the quick typing error, it had no hidden meaning.

Tulsa has lots of folks back. Thay could be a problem for them. 1 & 10 last year going to move up to 3 & 8. Does not look like one of those three comes here. Big Okee oil money, if any is left in the state. Will want the cover. Problem is we all are saying the same thing. That can be a worry for good reasons.

djv brought up about 25 reasons for laying off this game, without actually saying so. I got your point djv, exactly the way I feel. Sure as hell wouldn't play the over, but that is why I passed, too risky either way and will be rooting for my friend Gibber.

djv, give Mike a hi when you talk to the denerate, and I fit the bill too.;)

looks like us old guys think alike. i wouldn't touch tulsa, ands have no interest in laying this kind of number on oklahoma when they have 'bama on deck in norman next weekend. no reason to show the tide all of their best stuff before the big showdown; a win over 'bama would mean a heck of a lot more in terms of bcs rankings. last year's waxing of tulsa came on the heels of nebraska putting a whuppin' on the sooners - this year the situation is much different. why does the score 48-13 keep appearing in my head?
