smith:

just my opinion but that would be the reason they WOULDNT be ready to play. emotional loss in a big game with a short week to recover. normally, this would be rebs biggest game of the season, but with msu sucking this year, that lsu game was clearly mississippi's season. i think msu hangs inside the number

I agree, definitely think MSU stays inside the number. This is their bowl game and at home, while Ole Miss just sunk all their effort into the LSU game. Reminds me alot of the OSU/Penn St. game. Patterno said at the time that Penn St. sunk all their energy into the OSU game. They lost a heartbreaker and then went to NW and lost. Not saying the Rebels lose this game but can't see them covering. Nice spot for MSU.

I agree with the reasoning here. Seems it would be hard for the Rebs to match the same intensity they had last week. Meanwhile, this is the only game State has cared about for a while, and they will actually give a genuine effort. Only question is, how truly bad is State. Do they have the talent to make a game of it?

I solved this one in September. When the books were offering "games of the year" with lines for games later in the season, I made two wagers. One was FSU over Notre Dame. I got them at -8, and I think the spread turned out to be -13. Of course, they won so big any line would have won.

The other game I took in September was Ole Miss over MSU at -4. I only wish I'd put more money on it.

Also like it betting on Eli M. to have his best game of his career, look for him to pass for over plus 500 yds:p

Ole Miss

I don't like the game either way. There will be a letdown by Ole Miss but if they get ahead they might try to pad the old stats for Eli to help him win the Heismann. Mississippi State's defense is that bad and I would really worry about them giving up if they fell behind. Better games to play on.

MSU is very bad they cannot stop the pass. If a team like Alabama who is my fav. can beat MSU 38-0 at Msu surely ole miss can cover a 18 point spread. I like Ole miss big in this one. Plus factor in if Arkansas somehow beats LSU that would put ole miss in the SEC title game so they still have plenty to play for.
