Anyone have one? I am a plasma fan, the more true the blacks the more I like the TV. I'm not a big fan of LED/LCD backlighting. I've read good reviews of the 55" LG OLED, non-curved, but at 3k it's obviously quite pricey. Does anyone have one or know anyone with one? Good/bad?

Let's leave price out of this for now.

LED is bottom of the barrel. Period. People who have an LED TV say shit like "It works great!"

Plasma is better. Fact. But guess what - they don't make plasma anymore because people LOVE to buy cheap shit like LED TV's.

But OLED comes in and saves the day. Why? OLED technology is awesome because each pixel provides its own illumination. You will get plasma like quality.

LED TV's are "backlit" which make for a cheaper TV and shitty quality.

I wouldn't buy anything but an OLED. :0008:0008

The only thing that bothers me is that movies look like Sony camcorder bullshit thanks to 4K TV's. I have heard that there is a setting to fix it, but have done little investigating into that aspect. I will soon.

don`t know about these new high end models....but as a guy that has basic led hi def flat panels made by sony,Panasonic and lg,the lg picture is clearly superior.....I use an lg monitor as my computer screen......

I`ve have 3 of them for several years and I love the brand....

i bought last plasma version that Panasonic made (2013) and can't be happier about it.
picture is just perfect for movies and sports

oled is new technology that haven't proven it self yet, it looks good but we don't know how well it lasts. also oled probably has same problem as old plasmas: image retention

there is also a new technology, fald:
http://www.avsforum.com/panasonic-tc-65cx850u-65-fald-lcd-uhdtv-review/

looks like another backlight led with a new name

if you are in a position to wait a year, do so. oled's prices will drop and there is more experience about it as a technology. imo 4k is bullshit and 8k will replace it soon... and there is no material to watch in natural 4k anyway.

and curved tv's...

I have a 65 Samsung led , 60 samsung led and a 50 Panasonic plasma. The Panasonic plasma has the better picture hands down, but the others work just fine..... Of course, I'm not a videophile

Appreciate all the feedback. I splurged on a pioneer kuro plasma back in 2008 and it's still the best TV we've ever had. We have a couple of LEDs because they are cheap and do the job in certain rooms. I almost wish I never got the Kuro because now nothing compares.

Any image blur with OLED? I'm one of those weird people that picks up on image blur regardless of refresh rate. I wish it weren't so, it's a pain in the ass. Another reason why plasma was superior.

you should get some advice from arrow. Since these are pretty expensive tvs, he's probably got about 4 or 5 of them set up around the house so he doesn't have to be bothered to change the channel. He can probably give some good feedback on the pros and cons of them.
