Need some help here. In the car with my wife and daughter and granddaughter who is 11 and hearing the No 1 song on the radio by Olivia Rodrigo. I lost my cool and of course my filter and just sarcastically killed this song Was attacked by all 3 saying " your missing the point" its a love song,its beautiful, its sad.etc etc. and then I hit them with my feelings .
1st of all I taught drivers ed for almost 20 years . And at my school since most of my kids were inner city kids their parents who lived in NYC didn't have cars . But part of taking drivers ed was you get a blue card and at my school we schedule and take you for the road test. That in itself was a monumental task And about 99% of my kids passed there drivers test. Then having 3 daughters and one son they all got their drivers license ..So I would say getting a drivers license is one of the most important things in your life at 16 or 17.. think most of us here now can remember where you took the test and have some faint memory of that day,
Never thought anything about it until I heard the song which is now No 1 in the charts.

Olivia you got your drivers license ,your boyfriend taught you and now you drive by his house and he has left you for a blonde. [ maybe he is teaching her to drive} " but today you drive by his house and he's gone". " and I know we weren't perfect but I never felt this way before".

Olivia.. you are 16 and just got your drivers license ..be happy and move on. he taught you hopefully 3 pt turns and parallel .. You passed you drove by his house and he's gone. So what.. I can now drive on my own and go where ever I want to go.. get over it
I think it was at that point when my wife,daughter and granddaughter started throwing things at me in the back seat saying shut up your ruining the song.. oh well I guess that is what my wife is saying the older I;m getting the more filters I'm losing. My daughter here in Austin called her 2 sisters in Philly and Orlando and they all agreed with each other.. Dad is losing it over a song about a drivers license .. so I thought maybe here someone might agree with me.. I think the no water,freezing weather and 6 inches of snow here in Austin has me losing my mind some what but Olivia be happy you can drive now
