Unemployment claims UP post-election?

Nah.

And please do not blame Hurricane Sandy - New York actually showed a decline in claims whereas bot Pennsylvania and Ohio had the most.....

Why did the USDA delay the foodstamp release 9 days so it came out post election?

420,ooo new food stamp recipients and an all time high of 47.1 million recipients would not have affected the way anyone voted?

The most Socialist countries in Europe (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland) are doing quite nicely with either a current budget surplus or a tiny (<2%) deficit.

You will notice that the USA has fallen to 9th most prosperous.

Facts are Hell, aren't they?

The USA remains in recession, although it is improving slowly.

A majority of voters (you do believe in democracy, don't you?) believe Obama is more likely to improve the economy than believe Romney would.

You, Limbaugh and Beck can cry, piss and moan all you like. The people have spoken and majority rules, just as it should be.

Four years from now you can try to put up a candidate who will garner more votes than Hillary.

Good luck with that.

As usual, this is comment is way off.

12% of the Obama voters voted for him because he looked like themselves - he is black.

A high percentage of other voters voted for Obama because they wanted free birth control, or gay marriage, or some other social issue.

A number of other voters voted for Obama because Obama's onslaught of negative advertising, done very early in the campaign, worked very well.

Poll after Poll showed voters trusted Romney over Obama on issues regarding the economy by 10% or more

For Obama voters, the economy did not play a role in their decision. Logically, it couldn't have - because a 8% unemployment rate doesn't get a president re-elected.

And for most of the simpletons that voted for Obama, their stance wouldn't change no matter how good the economy was doing - they had no intention of getting off their butt and getting a job anyway, so the "jobs" message meant little to them. All they cared about was getting their free bennies.... and Obama was the best candidate in that regard.

FYI - you can learn something here, Duff, a response without personal attacks. But your modus operandi is not to be able to discuss anything factually - it is to just throw out personal attacks.

Which is why you'll never be 1/2 the person that I am, or SSD - heck, even Hedge (who seems to be a good guy). Personal attacks show a lack of self confidence and self esteem. I do hope you can improve in that regard. I'd prefer to discuss issues going forward, not insults.

Maggot - can you comprehend simple English? You chide me for personal attacks, then spend two paragraphs doing just that.

Go find yourself a real job, one which produces something valuable for the economy. Maybe you can find one which will provide you with remedial English classes.

You're a dunce, Maggot, a fact proven every time you open your mouth.

MAGS-

I would be willing to bet that there are more than 12% of the people who voted for Romney because he looked like themselves.. WHITE

That may be... but my point is still the same... Obama didn't get elected due to his stewardship of the economy, OR if he was viewed to be a better choice in terms of the economy going forward.

Obama voters could give a damn about unemployment, etc - it is all about themselves, or their union, or their birth control.

Obama did a great job pivoting from the important issues and moving people to vote on small issues instead.

It has been reported by all the economists that you love to cite who back up Keynesian economics that the Great recession ended June 2009.

So, has it ended or not, Muff?

Facts suck.

And, are you saying that the USDA delayed the release of the SNAP #'s because the US is in recession?

Or that they delayed telling the food stamp recipients in PA and OH that their benefits will go down about $50 per month in 2013 because of the recession?

I understand that it makes up feel better to lump me in with Beck and Limbaugh. But I do not listen or subscribe to what those 2 are selling.

So, it only matters that people vote based on skin color when they are black. Wow.

Maybe the people that voted Democrat just didnt believe the guy that made a fortune running companies into the ground and sending jobs overseas was going to do something else.

ssd, what's wrong with your reading comprehesion?

What Kensyian economist have I cited? What "economist" of any stripe have I quoted?

According to the classic definition of recession it *may* have ended. We will know for certain in a few more quarters. In any even the downward curve has been arrested. Time will tell about the exact timing and strength of recovery.

Facts suck? How so? What's better than fact - anonymous Message board opinion?

I'm not saying anything about the USDA. Don't know, don't care.

Whether you listen/watch Limbaugh/Beck or not, you usually sound like them with tin-foil hat conspiracies, blaming Obama for events beyond his control, and dismissing solid factual information as nefarious propaganda, while treating nefarious propaganda as truth, depending on which suits your preconceived conclusions.

If something*bad* happens, it's the fault of Obama. When something good happens, it's an Obama lie.

Maybe you're not a Beckerhead, but I get the feeling that if you saw Obama walking on water, your response would be: "Look! He can't swim!"

I was more anti Romney and the Republican way than I was pro Obama. George Bush, Cheyney, and Rumsfeld still piss me off and the DON makes me sick. That fool should of kept his mouth shut, I am sure he turned off a few voters.

I don't blame Obama for the bad but I will not credit him for the 'good', either because I do think most of it is bullshit.

I do not like Pres Obama for his fiscal issues.

He has run Trillion dollar deficits since his first year.

It will not end and I won't be shocked if in his final year, he runs a $2 Trillion deficit.

I also in no way shape or form believe that the Affordable Healthcare Act will be in any way a cost saving program and will only add to more deficit spending and borrowing and the insolvency of this country.

Spineless legislators and executives have led us down this path.....by following the FED like rats and the Pied Piper.

I think you're overly pessimistic. We still have a powerful economy, strong natural resources, and plenty of capitalist incentive. Individuals and businesses with strong credit can now borrow at unprecedented low rates. Corporations are sitting on heavy cash positions.

The recession will end, although it will be a slow climb back as the recession is worldwide.

The Afghan war will end, and those expenses will decline.

The Congress will eventually do *something* to increase revenue and reduce spending, but neither will be enough. However it will be better than nothing.

You will recall that we took on enormous debt during WWII, and within a few years made good progress towards repaying that debt and restoring our civilian economy until we got sidetracked by the "cut my taxes but gimme more" crowd....which included both parties.

Yes, I agree, most of our politicians are incompetent and often dishonest boobs, but amongst them are a few, R and D, who are truly our best and brightest. It's always been like that, and we have prospered in spite of them.

You and I often disagree, but, actually, I think you're an example of why we will be okay. I know you're willing to work hard, and try to think clearly about business, and you're not afraid to be inventive. There are millions more like you.

Concentrate on ssd, and pay less attention to the foolishness in government. It will only make your belly hurt. :0074

Thanks, Muff but I do not share your optimism, I guess.

Too many friends have lost jobs or their businesses.

Too many people hurting and the polarity in this country is nothing that I have ever seen.

World has changed. After WWII, we (the USA) was it for manufacturing and industry as the Allies had decimated Germany and Japan. Everyone had to buy from the USA. And, the USA was a creditor nation.
Not anymore -

Manufacturing will come back to US due to the global wealth effect. It has already started, albeit slowly.

Debt and interest on the debt is destroying this country. I really feel for the young kids and college kids coming up.
