Inauspicious start for me yesterday:

0-1 (-1.0 unit)

Let's get back to even today.

Going with:

Houston/Chicago over 7.5

Bad karma to take the same over number 2 days in a row? Naaahhh!;)

This is Prior's 3rd start against the Astros this year, and they've knocked him around pretty good. He's posted a 0-1 record with a 8.38 ERA. To be fair, though, he did look better against them the 2nd time, giving up only 2 runs and 3 hits in 6 innings. Right now, this kid still wastes a lot of pitches, gets his pitch count up, and definitely won't last past the 7th, but will probably be gone after 6 if he has any problems. That means a very inconsistent Cubs bullpen is going to be out on the field for at least 2-3 innings. If we see the likes of Jeff Fassero the over is an immortal lock. Prior is also coming off a win and has yet to win consecutive games.

Cruz is making only his 4th start of the year, and he left Monday night after the 2nd inning with neck spasms. He's definitely a big question mark. He has pitched very well of late, posting a 1-0 record with a .84 ERA in his last 3 starts. He's a good pitcher, but I don't think he's THAT good. I look for him to come back to Earth a little bit in this start.

Bottom line is that the since the break the Cubs have been pretty consistently good for 3-4 runs per game, and the Astros lineup is pretty much always good for 4-5 runs, averaging 4.7 runs/game.

Let's go get 'em.

Peace,
John
