On the course!
I finally stumbled upon a way to get rid of that annoying porno "tool bar".

I clicked on "view", and this shit was on my "tool bar" section. I just clicked it off. (Seems so simple!)

I STILL have the problem with my machine being stuck in "safe mode". The graphics are pure shit, and it has made me close to nuts over the last couple of weeks! Not to mention that my baseball picks have suffered significantly over this period! Coincidence? I highly doubt it!

There has to be a way to get this fixed..........

yyz,

did you ever check the damn monitor fluid like I mentioned before? probably not!

there are a few things to look for on this one.....

right click on your dektop>choose properties>settings tab
if it has only 16 colors, click the pull down menu and select the option furthest to the bottom (i.e High Color 16-bit). Click apply and then OK.

Tell me if this works first before I go to Step 2.

try this--

turn your computer OFF.

when you turn it back on, hit the "F8" key intermittently (every second or so) until your puter goes to a black screen with some options. use your arrow key to select the option you want. it might be stuck on "safe mode" somehow.

just try it....can't hurt.

i know that's what i have to do if i want to open windows in safe mode. maybe you can get out by doing the same thing.

let me know.

Monk,

I've re-tried the method you said, but the "safe mode" has the settings tab locked out.....I cannot change a thing this way.

Jack,

I've tried that, but will try it once more.

go to microsoft's page and use their online support section.

you'll figure it out in there somewhere.

yyz, have you checked your device manager? right click on my computer, go to properties, device manager. Look for anything that has error icons.

also, go to Start > Run > type in SFC

Lemme know what you find!

yyz,

Did you ever think that maybe TNFR has been on your computer? Tell the good padre to fork up his own money and get his own damn 'puter.

Sorry I can't help you as I am computer illiterate as well.

Reload windows. If you reload without formatting your drive, you should retain most of your settings. The only drivers you might need to reload are the video and network card (if you have one) drivers.

Hey Cuz , been there done that . :( ... **** it , take all your important files or proggy's and burn em to a cd or zip drive then re-format the ****ing hard drive . That will ABSOLUTELY take care of the problems , not to mention free up ALOT of space that is in all likelyhood being wasted by partically deleted files and unused proggy's. If you are unfamilar with "re-formatting" get in touch with Jack and ask him to e-mail me your phone # , and we'll get this shit taken care of. I understand your frustration ( and how) . As a side note , if your uncomfortable with the phone idea , call a local computer shop near you and tell them you want your hard drive re-formatted , will cost you a coupla bucks , BUT , your pc will be like brand new when you get it back :) ... hope this helps & be well . if you are using windows

Start -> Settings -> Control panel -> System -> Device Manager ->
Display Adapters

insert cd for graphic card that came (?) with your computer then
choose "Driver" from display adapters then click "Update driver".

you can all so download latest drivers to your graphic card and
re-install direct-x.

use "windows update"

good luck
