How ironic is this. They bust this poor old fella because he's a bookie. His reputation and honesty are probably more impeccable than any of the people that arrested him or
the self righteous politicians that pass
anti gambling legislation then buy tickets in their state lottery and vacation in Las Vegas. Only in America

Loved Max's quote --

"I get tired of watching all those millionaire owners and players," he says. If he didn't have a financial stake in a game, "I wouldn't give a damn what they do."

And a tip o' the hat goes to the lawyers and Uncle Sam --

What should be done with the $126,989 that the police had seized the year before from Weisberg's house? In the end $51,687 went to the Internal Revenue Service and a similar amount went to his lawyers. In a moment of compassion the judge ordered that nearly $13,000 be spent to bring the electrical system of Weisberg's old house up to code and to add air-conditioners.

Whadda country!

A very inspiring story for those of us whose shoe size and I Q are the same identical number.

Great Story. Makes you wonder how much money they never found.

I, too, thought the best part of the story was the judge ordering the 13,000 bucks to fix Mr. Weisberg's electrical system. I just hope the people responsible for picking on the old guy will leave him alone and go after the real criminals in the Twin Cities.
And I gotta be honest-- a lot of the time I feel just like Max because I'm paying attention to idiots like Jason Williams and Charlie Ward -- and all because I've got a financial stake in the games they play.....

After that he stayed out of institutions, living with his parents and Solly, and he never even came close to marrying. "I didn't want nobody nagging me," he explains.

Classic.....
