I ususally steer clear of challenge (tennis weaklings or greenhorns) type action cause usually these players have little or nothing to go on. But I believe there's some opportunity in the Open qualifiers today. The regular plays listed are as solid as any I've won (or lost) though, so don't ignore em.

Today:

SMASHNOVA -105: Actually a dog. RIGHT NOW she appears to be playing better than Camerin. Ya gotta love the 6-1 final set she won yesterday. She's been around the block a few times.

DAVENPORT -450 TO WIN 1ST SET: May have to go to Dimes for this one. Sorry bout the odds (hell, she's -550 to win the normal way), but this has gotta be a parlay icing topper.

VACEK +100 : Looks like there's some value here. Vacek is bad, Minar is terrible. BTW, Vacek pushed Johansson (Thomas) to 3 sets just two mos. ago and all 3 were EXTREMELY close. Now no comments from the peanut gallery - yes, it was on grass but it doesn't matter cause his hard court record is just as good/bad on grass. Can NOT imagine Minar doing that at all.

Wessels -150 (vs. Kubotr): Both of these players have faced the ones we know. But both have also faced plenty of the 100+ (rankings) crew. Kubot is 1 -14 this yr. If you go back to last yr. - Wessels looks much better and you GOTTA love the fact that his "bestest" match of the yr. was vs. NALBANDIAN in the U.S. OPEN !
You gotta take my word for it - Kubot looks like a putty cat. Now, how would you like to be in his shoes in front of all them U.S. Openers with your good ole Rawliings wooden racket and face this "monster" (Wessels) on the other side of the net -

Oooops, almost fergots:

tt - BE CAREFUL with Black n Stubbs today. They're facing Raymond/Stosur, a tough, tough, duo. If push came to shove, I'd be on Blake/Stubbs, but I ain't risking any hard earned profits in this matchup.

What a danm SCREWUP

What a danm SCREWUP

Man oh man, did I mess up or what? All these freakin names ya can't even pronounce with similar spelling.
If it makes anyone who played VACEK (like I posted) feel any better - I ALSO played him instead of who I really had figured to win - VANEK, vaNek, VAnEK . I was in a rush and see vaCek on the board and checked it like an idiot just like I posted it. And what really sucks is that I'm pretty sure that VANEK, who I really wanted, was a bigger DOG. Did you notice in my comment I had "can't imagine MINBAR doing that at all." banghead: :banghead:

I wasn't thinking too good when I posted, but luckily I realized that I liked Davenport to win the first set mostly because it was such an improvement in odds. But then I said, "Hey, I like her to win EVERY set in this matchup." So I looked at "Davenport goes straight sets (2)" and got that instead @ -268 which is MUCH better than -450. Either way, it was a winnah. Even got a little more luck with that one cause I had it with a basebawler (Col -155) who is killing S.D. as I write this. I DON'T post BB cause I STINK at handicaping it and besides - why waste the tennis resources? But I do follow it real close like as a fan and will use it to boost a heavy favorite tennis play in a parlay which has worked for me. Let me know if you'd like to see who my potential basebawl plays are for parlay purposes, but AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Sorry bout the screwups, think I'll take a breather and concentrate on the first round of the biggie where I load up a little heavier and a screwup can be really costly. Gonna CLEARLY write down what I come up with for the Open

BTW, the putty cat beat the tiger, Smashnova lived up to her name, Davenport rolled, and I just wanna forget about the CEKS.
