Round 1 plays (2pts):

Stephen Gallacher to beat Richard Finch -115 @ Five Dimes
A runner-up on this course when last used in 2004 and has finished ahead of Finch in each of their last three tournaments; that should be enough to warrant favouritism for the Scot in this match

Miguel Angel Jimenez to beat Johan Edfors -115 @ Five Dimes [also available at Bet365]
Edfors may have the better form heading into this event, but backed by a home crowd and greatly advantaged by a course that heavily penalised errant drives, Jimenez looks the better player this week

Mark Foster to beat Mattias Eliasson -115 @ Five Dimes
Foster's form is very poor this year, but he has at least been starting events well - he ranks 5th in 1st round scoring average in European events this year - that is common with Foster: he ranks over 100 places better and almost 1.4 shots better than Eliasson in this category over the last 12 months

Outrights:

Darren Clarke(25/1) e.w.
- - I read somewhere that Dazza cancelled his initial flight from China to stay over and celebrate, then went back to London on Monday before heading to Spain on Tuesday. Even so, I have no inclination to pick up this winning marker, and fully expect him to be comfortably under par and in the discussion with 18 holes to go on Sunday.

Peter Hanson(50/1) e.w.
- - A new man on the bag.

Marc Warren(150/1) e.w.
- -

Jose Manuel Lara(40/1) e.w.
Carlos Rodiles(150/1) e.w.
Migueul Angel Jimenez(20/1) e.w.
Ignaccio Garrido(200/1) e.w.

- - Lara has a tremendous record in Spain, and any finish there of 34th or worse since 2003 has been followed by something there of 12th or better . . . Not pulling the trigger on Rodiles at 250/1 last year was simply put my biggest blunder of the season, and after beating myself up over it for 72 excruciating holes, his sad failure to emerge with the win was the only thing which kept it from being the biggest wagering blunder of my life. There are a few terms that I could use to describe my need to be on his side as he flails away this time . . .

Peter Lawrie(60/1) e.w.
- - If it was a LCP slog he would be my second choice, but with a forecast of brilliant weather I should merely be having a saver.

Matchups:

Noren(-120) over Montgomerie (Tournament)

Edit: - - Man, I was off by an hour on my time zones and didn't realize I was this late in posting. My bad, but I needed a nap before grinding through my choices.

I already have a theory to track for this venue . . . You will make some bogies because of the rough, but you need to be sharp enough to make birdies; you need to avoid dropping strokes on the Par 3's, and you really have to avoid putting 6's on your card.

Round 2 plays (2pts):

Miguel Angel Jimenez to beat Johan Edfors -120 @ Five Dimes
Opposing Edfors who is not good at rebouncing from a poor 1st round: he has been outside the top-100 after the 1st round 23 times on Tour, breaking 70 in the 2nd round just once and averaging 73.52

Jose Manuel Lara to beat Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano -110 @ Five Dimes
Opposing GFC whose errant driving caused his difficulties on this penalising course today. I can't see him being straight enough off the tee tomorrow to get back under the cut line
