Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)

Bradley Dredge to win 18/1 e.w. @ Boyle Sports [6 places]
Dredge didn't even try to qualify for the U.S. Open as he chose to concentrate solely on his schedule of European events and not to disrupt those plans. That decision should reap dividends over the next few weeks as many of the other leading players on this Tour feel the after-effects of that travel and the toughness of that event. This is his first event after a three-week break and if he can continue in the same form as previously (two 2nd place finishes in his last three starts), he should have a very good chance this week, particularly given his course history: two 8th places finishes in 2003 and 2005, plus a 3rd place position with one round to play last year.

Richard Sterne to win 22/1 e.w. @ Boyle Sports [6 places]
Sterne's best finish in four attempts at Le Golf National is 13th, which is credible enough and certainly enough to not be a concern on a play based primarily on current form. Over the last four months, his finishing positions have read: 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 5th, 5th, 37th, 3rd and 1st. There's no need to add any further reasons!

Graeme McDowell to win 33/1 e.w. @ Boyle Sports [6 places]
McDowell was 4th here in 2004 and there are signs that he is set for a similarly high finish this week. His form had been erratic since the events in China in February, but he closed with a 64 to finish 9th in the BA-CA Golf Open and then finished 30th in the U.S. Open the following week, even though it was his fifth straight week of tournament golf. He would have been grateful for the break last week, but his confidence will have been greatly boosted by his performances over those two weeks and, if he can carry that forward to this week, he should be a very strong contender.

Outrights:

Looks like the too frequently unfathomable Kjeldsen with his solid play around this often beastly brute is my most original contribution. Hoping the scenario of O'Malley closing from off the pace is in store for Sunday. I'm shocked I'm not totally on board with Van de Velde in a two stage prelude to Carnoustie, but he's just not sharp enough at the moment to avoid costly lapses around this test. http://www.sportinglife.com/golf/ne...NAME=golf/07/06/27/GOLF_French_Nightlead.html
