take nothing away from jarrod washburn, who is one of baseball's best young left handed pitchers. that said, when washburn is your staff ace, it speaks volumes about the rest of the rotation. the young left hander gets a stiff test against a cleveland team who have taxed left handed pitching hard in recent years, has no real backup in the bullpen and will have to rely on a questionable offense to produce runs on opening day against the often unhittable bartolo colon. the 2002 season opens with a road team win.
