I saw the recent Tech game against UTEP. Tech is not very talented but is very very fundamentally sound. To win games this year, they will have to hit free throws and limit turnovers just to have a chance at winning.

I think Tech will be a play against teams of comparable talent because Knight will be difficult to outcoach in such situations. Against teams with more talent ( and New Mexico State typically has more than Tech ), then I expect Tech to struggle.

Knight has 7 or so new players on this team that he had a hand in getting to Tech. It will take him at least two years to get a team completely made up of " his guys ".

I agree with what you have said, but this team has no quit in them. I went to the SMU game and they were down 11 early, but stuck to their game plan and beat a more talented team on the road. I don't believe they will win tonight, but I think they will stay within the number.

Good Luck and Better Winnings

Lets remember who the head coach at New Mexico State is: none other than Lou Henson.
For those of us old enough to remember, these two had a run-in a few years back when both were in the Big-10.
Hensons' remarks after the game were classic. Something about Knight being the "classic bully" and that he can intimidate the refs, but he is not going to bully me and I'm not backing down from him..
Henson gained many fans after that one(including me), and I'm fairly certain that that BOTH coaches will make it clear to their players that they would like to win this game.
Should be a good one....

And if Texas Tech can roll up on NMS, they will. Not being a wise ass, I just love Bobby Knight.
