Mark May likes to say nd doesn't deserve to be in the bcs. seems like montana was a real tough ooc game for oregon. maybe they could schedule a team in div 1a? Is it Nd's fault that tenn shit the bed this year, or that pitt was terrible, or purdue was terrible, mich wasn't up to their normal standards. i agree that their performance tonight was abysmal but they deserve to be there more than oregon. everyone said nd's schedule was great in september than all of a sudden well all they beat was byu, navy, yada yada yada. They would beat oregon on a neutral field especially if weis had 5 weeks to prepare for them.

by no means defending oregon scheduling montana but if im not mistaken, montana was #1 in the nation when the ducks played them.

Being qualified doesnt mean they are in. Separate things. They still have to get picked. The have just met the minimum requirements. They put those in because the Fiesta would pick them if the were 6-5 otherwise.i

You are wrong.

To qualify to be picked they have to get 9 wins and be in BCS Top 12. They dont get an automatic bid even wiht that.

No rule says they have to be picked. Moreover if there are 2 at larges in Top 4 ND is out. So, a UCLA win over USC or a Texas loss could still keep ND out in theory.

Automatic entry for the four BCS bowl games are:

The conference champions of the following conferences: Big Ten, Big XII, SEC, Big East, Pac-10, and ACC

Notre Dame, if they win 9 non-exempt games or finish in the top 10 in the final BCS ratings. (Midway through the 2002 season the NCAA reversed its decision and allowed Notre Dame to count its preseason bowl game as non-exempt. Another clear example of favortism.)

At-large teams that finish in the top 4 in the final BCS ratings.

you may be right...i just found this one

All other Division I-A teams that have won at least nine regular season games (not including wins in exempt games) and are ranked among the top 12 in the final BCS Standings are eligible for selection as an at-large team. The final BCS Standings will be released on Sunday, December 4. The conferences whose champions have a guaranteed annual berth in one of the BCS bowls are subject to review and possible loss of that guaranteed annual berth should the conference champion not have an average ranking of 12 or higher over a four-year period.

either way....nd will be in....even if you are correct and sc and texas both lose they will find a way to drop one of them (likely texas) out of the top four of the bcs so they can get nd an at large bid bid.

Why does ND and USC have to blow out everybody? ND won the game... That is all that matters unless you had ND-15-18 lol...

The fact is you can make arguments supporting ND, Oregon, and Ohio St. But the BCS is all about the money and ND will be selected.

And what does that have to do with me or any of this discussion or this thread? Have I said the Big 12 is good or Texas is the greatest team since sliced bread? No ...but why let the facts get in the way.

Personally I would like to see Auburn in the mix, I think they are playing well and could give all of these at large contenders a game, I wish there were a way in cases like this where the conference tie ins could be bumped and a bowl could grab the two that teams left out of the BCS for a matchup. Oregon vs Auburn would be a decent matchup in my opinion.

Blackman in theory you have some of that. The Citrus or whatever it is called now has SEC 2 v Big 11 2. Holiday is usually Pac 10 2 v Big 12 2. I really hate all the conference tie ins at the non champ levels. It hurts all the bowls - how many times would Texas fans or players want to go to the Holiday Bowl or Cotton Bowl? Or Tenn the Citrus year after year.

you didnt but its part of the bcs auto invite process...it's a joke joke when a colorado/iowa state and fla state (or pitt last year) have a chance to be one of the 8 bcs teams and

auburn, ucla, oregon, ohio state, notre dame could be on the outside looking in because these slugs happen to finally play one good game after losing plenty all year long.
