Anyone been there lately? Thinking about going to a concert there in December. Worth staying there-how's this place shape up?
Flamingo in October-more on that later.

Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Always clean and reasonable rooms......good poker room, old codger heaven. Ask for poker room rate for your room, was about $50-$55.

Avoid the buffet....:0037

Gold Coast nearby better....next to Rio, much better food choices....decent cheap buffet, and world class Chinese at Ping Pang Pong...Walnut Shrimp to die for, great daily Dim-Sum

I was there briefly in May (we were trying to go to a movie, but the line was so long we ended up missing the start), and it was packed. As mentioned, a very popular local poker room, and it seems to be a fairly busy casino anytime I have ever been there. Surely it's as nice as the Flamingo?

There are always 2for1 coupons floating around for shows at the Boyd's casinos including Orleans. You can get one from the ACG along with other Orleans deals or, if needbe, it would be easy for me to send you off one...which show are you looking at?

Sportsbook is OK, but the better option is the large bar on the west side of the casino which opens up the showroom with table and booth seating and waitress service. The bar behind the sportsbook is also very large with pretty good viewing angles. They also have 9/6 bartop DDB VP.

Good food choices although someone above is correct that above is correct that the GC has better. At the Orleans, Big Al's seafood is decent especially for a bowl of clam chowder and a salad for lunch. Mexican place is OK, steakhouse upstairs offers very good value and there is a food court in the back with a variety of options.

You can take the shuttle to the GC which opens up that option plus walkable to Palms and Rio. Palms sportsbook used to be a fav until the weasels from Cantor took it over. They have just opened a Hooters inside the Palms if you want to see barely naked women as opposed to the fully naked women walking around the strip.

Should have also mentioned there is a pretty big Irish style bar/restaurant in the back that offers good seats and multiple big TV options for sports...another solid choice.

Orleans is a decent off-strip choice.

It would be great to have a beer with you if we're out there the same time.

I owe you a few for the winners over the years.

Spackler and I are heading out Friday morning. He is staying at the Cosmo and I am at Wynn. We are looking for a good place to watch the Michigan/NW game on Saturday.

Got a comp at Flamingo so that is where I am staying. Saturday is still best for me. Mich game is at 12:30 I think NV time. Want to meet somewhere say noon for a couple of beers? Last time I think we met at Ceasars? Let me know tomorrow if you can. I think I remember what you look like--the guy who looks like he should be in the strip show Thunder Down Under-right?? I will have something Iowa on? If not next time around.
