Actually, taking a sample of 10 games, and assuming that about 21% of NHL games (regular season only) go in OT, you have just a little less than 1% chances that more than 5 games will go in OT. So yes, it's likely gonna happen once or twice a year.

As for the dogs covering the spreads, well according to the estimated odds (from the oddsmakers), yesterday you had about 1 chance out of 1500 that all the dogs cover the spread. Conclusion? Better spot the dogs

Dogs are the way to go the way teams are playing this year. Its going to be an unpredictable season.

These numbers are from my own database btw so they are not "official". Whenever I see something like:

Los Angeles +1.5 -150
St-Louis -1.5 +130

I convert the 1.5 puck + high juice into a "flat" 1.

Hey Guys

I know how frustrating it is with all this OT's. I got burned for not taking the moneyline on SJ yesterday. I am not a stats man but I know Olympic has a wager where you can bet that the game will go into overtime or the game will tie. The odds are usually +310 for OT and +6 for a tie. I don't know if this would apply to a hedge situation but comment if you have any ideas

Try this one guys...Just bet the Canadian money line until the season straightens itself out. Cream will rise to the top. Patience is the key. Stick to straight bets and take a push over a loss in case of a tie. The odds makers are watching the betting momentim and playing us the betting public to a tee. I rarely play 1.5 or .5 until the volitilty plays itself out. Joe Canuck/hockeywager
