Am I the only one that has been blown away by the performance of this OU team? Seems like it, because I think there are only 2-3 people on this forum on OU tonight, and about 10-12 on 'Zona. Not saying that Zona can't beat OU, but am really surprised to see that kind of distribution.
I guess I'm just more impressed with the conference championship game win over Kansas than either the selection committee or others seem to be. To me, I see a team that plays absolutely OUTSTANDING D. Someone else also mentioned this, but if you get down 10 on them, it's pretty much over. The 5-6 times I saw Kansas this year, they were just an absolute offensive juggernaut and for OU to hold them to 55 points was nothing short of astounding.
I also think that OU has shown tremendous poise in their 1st two tourney games. Sure, they only got by UIC by 8, but that game was in Chicago and even though the score was close OU had control the whole time. I also think that there solid win over Xavier is underrated. Xavier is/was a very good team that hit quite a few low-percentage shots to keep it close in the 2nd half, but OKla stayed poised and pulled away. I expect them to do the same tonight.
Nothing against Arizona, they are a very talented team, but they have been very inconsistent at times this year and, although they have hit their stride and are playing their best basketball right now, didn't look overly impressive in either of their 1st two wins.
I think OU is definitely a national championship contender, and I think they've got a great shot of toppling Duke (who, for the most part, believe that playing defense is something that "other" schools do). I think they're still pissed about being denied that #1 seed and are looking forward to proving to everyone that they are the best team in the West, and maybe in the country.
Laying 3-4 doesn't frighten me. This one will be close for most of the game, but I see at least a 5-7 point win for OU tonight. If nothing else, I think the under 148 is a real bargain, as I don't see Zona reaching 70.
