I know the guys here are experienced enough to know, but feel free to ttt or copy/paste this explanation if any of you get stuck in similar situation with a sportsbook in future. It's bound to happen. Alot got the grade wrong last night.
Hoping this helps players understand a little more clearly what 6 and 1/2 Rounds means and the significance of the 1/2 round on over -unders.
Best of luck.
UNDER 6.5 Rounds should be the correct grade.
Tomasz Adamek beat Gary Gomez by KO in Round 7 but UNDER 6.5 Rounds is Graded the Winner because the bout ended at the :01 second at the start of Round 7 because Gomez refused to come out for round 7.
6 and 1/2 Rounds = 6 Rounds plus 1:30 seconds of the following Round. Just like 4 and 1/2 innings is 1/2 of the 5th inning in baseball.
That is why you will never see 12 and 1/2 Round Totals. becauee that would mean the bout would need to go to 1:30 seconds of Round 13 to win an over bet.
(From 5dimes website below) 5Dimes got it right.
A total listed on a fight represents the total number of completed rounds. The halfway point of a round is at exactly one minute and thirty seconds into a three minute round. Thus, 4? rounds would be one minute and thirty seconds of the 5th round. The halfway point of a two minute round is at the one minute mark. The halfway point of a five minute round is at the two minutes and thirty seconds mark.
If an over/under boxing total lands on the exact half round total in a fight, the wager will be a push. If the phrase "Fight goes 1:30 round X", and the fight ends at exactly that second of that round, then "Fight goes" will be graded the winner.
In round distance wagering, if a fighter fails to answer the bell for the start of any round, the fight officially ended in the last round fought. In total wagering, if a fighter does not answer the bell to start a round where the fight has gone the exact distance listed on the total, the UNDER is the winner.
