Peavy's uppper respiratory infection caused a ripple effect through the entire rotation with rookie Tim Stauffer's next apperance pushed back to Saturday. Peavy has lost nine pounds since he became ill early in the morning after last Tuesday nights start against Milwaukee. By yesterday seven padres have came down with varying degrees of upper respiratory infections--both viral and bacterial. Ryan Klesko was too sick to play the last two games. Brian Giles was in despite running a 101.5=degree temp four hours before game time on Sat. And Geoff Blum was also too sick to play in the first shutout game against the Pads at home this season. Damian Jackson, Robert Fick and Akinori Otsuka were also ill. "The bug is running rampant in the clubhouse," said Padres manager Bruce Bochy. "Monday's day off is coming at a perfect time."
