been on medicine for about a year now.

had terrible anxiety....your exactly right, you cannot explain it to people. it is terrible....I often tiimes thought it was my time to go when experiencing them man. If you have any questions let me know cause i have been on medicine the past year and have only had 1 since ...

to put it in perspective, i was having 2 a day for the previous two years, so medicine really can help. hope you start feeling better, cause it really is a life changer.:toast:

Yes. Very severe ones. Actually feeling like you are going to die. Wouldn't wish them on anyone. Been on Paxil for over 10 years now and it has helped. You just have to remember that they will pass. I'm still not comfortable in certain situations. Had one on a flight to Las Vegas and haven't been on a plane since. They suck.

Do you guys that suffer from these consider yourselves outspoken or reserved?

Actally both. When I am in my comfort zone, I can be very outspoken, but in an uncomfortable environment, I will try to shy away from everyone. This will be quite interesting this spring as I am running for Alderman on our local City Council. So far I feel pretty good about it, but speaking in front of people will take some getting used to. Just finally knowing what the problem is helps a lot, as the fear of the unknown made things worse.

I suffered from Xanax withdrawal symptoms for 4 days 12 yrs ago. I was in my early 20s at the time, and was unsure of what was wrong. I thought I was going crazy. Went to my primary doc, who told me that I had acute panic disorder based on my symptoms. Problem was, I omitted the fact I had just stopped taking xanbars on a daily basis. He prescribed buspar or welbutrin., cant recall which. I filled the prescription, but still did not agree with the diagnosis. I couldn't understand how I went from carefree to anxiety-ridden panicker overnight. I called an ER nurse friend of mine who immediately knew I was suffering from withdrawals. 2 days later, it went away.

Those withdrawal induced panic attacks were as frightening an experience as i have ever known.

Hitting the sack. Good luck to anyone who has ever suffered from this. They are horrible. Good night.

I have read that a common trait amongst those who suffer from these is a reserved nature. I know 2 guys that suffer from them, and both are reserved.

I wish u guys nothing but the best in getting past this.

im slightly reserved, but around the right crowd can be outspoken.

overall, it is no doubt the worst thing i have ever dealt with. I have had broken bones, I get migranes, and I have been sicker then shit, but I tell ya right now, I would glady live with those symptoms rather then anxiety/panic attacks.

They are the most helpless feelings, and I have on two different occasions had my wife take me to the E.R. because i was sure I was dying. They hooked me up to all their machines and nothing was wrong. I have convinced myself of cancer, liver failure, heart attacks, and others. When you are suffereing a panic attack, all you can do is keep assuring yourself it will pass.

I try to walk around and keep telling myself it will be done soon. I often times try breathing techniques and seldom do I sit still. When I move around it helps.

For anyone who deals with this shit, I am sorry cause its terrible. just know, it can and will get better :0074
