Party in Atlanta

I know there are a few people here from the Atlanta area. Myself along with about 5 others put on a charity party each year (this being the third year), and ALL of the proceeds go to a pre-named charity. The first year, it was for Breast Cancer, last year the money went to an AIDS foundation, and this year we are donating all moneys to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Scoiety.

The first year, we had 800 people attend and last year's number grew to 1,800. We are expecting more than 2,500 this year. I am posting a link to the invitation if anyone is interested in attending. Donations are accepted. You can get my email from Jack if you would like any other details, or you can post any questions here.

It is a street party. We block off Taft Avenue directly across from Piedmont Park (on the 10th St side). $10 fee gets you all the beer you can drink and all the low-country crawfish boil that you can eat. We will have three bands playing this year. The names will be posted on the flyer later. We have one more update to do to that.

We went through 68 kegs and 500 lbs. of crawfish last year. We expect to blow that number out of that water this year.

Cold beer, good food, and beautiful people to look at in the hot sun for $10. Hope to see you there!

Sounds like a great time. I hope you can get good bugs, my best bud here in Nashville has a bar that does crawfish boils every Sunday, has them shipped live from N'Awlins every Saturday and they have been out of season for about a month now.

dunclock--Inland Seafood is one of the largest seafood distributors in the SouthEast. I am friends with the president of the company. He'll be shipping them directly to us from the Gulf that morning. He said that there is a 75% that we could get them live, if not we will be getting frozen whole bugs. There won't be much difference (except in our cost--those frozen bugs are expensive!)

We usually have this thing in June, so it is never a problem. Our original date ended up falling on Gay Pride Weekend, and that is not something you want to compete with in Atlanta!

Freak--Thanks, buddy. We really enjoy putting this party on, so it's not all sweat and tears. I get to stand behind a table taking money and talking to Hotlanta women all day! It's hard work being a philanthropist!
