Alright, I am a novice to this whole game and I have been reading what all you have had to say the past couple of days and I would like to know what you think of a couple of my parlays.

Tech -15 b/c of their O
UConn -7.5 b/c of pro picks
FSU - 7 b/c FSU is hot(IMO)

&

Bama -13 b/c of their D
FSU -7 see above
UGA -16 b/c LSU did and UGA > LSU this year
Mizzou -6 Brad Smith, enough said.
Tech -15 see above
OU -6 D wins this game
UCLA -5 O controls the clock, wins by TD

Any advice would be great...

Stay away from FSU

Stay away from FSU

Not a good game to play. You should be cautious of this one. Possible upset here. FSU is playing an away night game. I took FSU last week and Wake Forest was moving the ball on them. Watch the weather too. FSU is awful in the rain. Remember Louisville a few years back. FSU was undefeated and went up to Louisville night game in the rain and FSU ended up with a loss.

My plays for this weekend:
Bama -13.5
Syracuse -2
Iowa -15.5
Tech -15 (this line makes me a little nervous because of how fast it has climbed)
Northwestern +7.5
Marshall +3
Toledo -20
Auburn -7.5
Oklahoma -6.5 ( my 100% lock of the week)
Possible: USC -12 (not sure on this one because of all the hype. My instincts tell me USC covers in a final score of USC 45 ND 21

Take what you will from my advice but I am confident in my plays this week, especially the dogs I am taking

IMO
you are betting w/ John Q. Public too much
ya'll are on the same side w/ every pick

I see you having a losing record this week
I hope you don't of course but that is just what I think

You need to reference some sites that show you the percentages of the public betting on the games.

Your rationalization is exactly what the books want

You CANNOT rationalize the Georgia game that way, remember, this is only my opinion

A great site to look and scores, ATS, live lines, and betting public is www.scoresandodds.com. I love this web-site. Trying doing your own reasearch on ATS and etc. and come up with your own games. If the betting public was always right we wouldn't have sports gambling. Go with your won instincts but it doesn't hurt to take in advice on the games you picked yourself. The only picks I take is Lem Banker. A betting guru, Senor Capper post his picks in the NFL forum. Try and find a couple dogs everyweek too. Best of luck and I am done with my 2 cents.

Lucky Irish is very right. I only play maybe one or two parlays the whole year. Parlays are so hard to hit that why the payoffs are so appealing

Yes,Thom......Dont get me wrong...Betting a parlay is awful tempting sometimes with the great payouts but in the long run...It isnt profitable.
I dont know of any successfull capper that plays parlays regularly.

I do not know ALL of the lingo, but I do understand some. So you are saying the money to be made is in...??? Betting on one game at a time? If so, what is the best way there... throw this dog a bone!

Look don't bet parlays especially as a new gambler, do research on games using the web-site I gave you. Play oklahoma this weekend. You have to look at trends on each team from that you make a decision. Some trends will be better than others. Don't go into this thinking your going to make a killing. It takes time to get good at this, its an acquired skill. So bet small and only take a few games. And remember this is a game of chance like all gambling and there is not such thing as a sure thing, especially in sports gambling.

I am more looking to hear now what to do instead of parlays? Straight wagers? Progressive parlays? Teasers? I do not really know where the money lies on better odds.

straight games are the only ones I play, usually I play about 9 college and 3-4 pro games. Pro games are much much harder

So the seasoned wagerers throw down money on straight wagers and make their money on that, huh? I will look into that and hopefully pull through on one of my parlays this weekend so that its not all for naught. Start fresh next week. Thx for the heads up.
