Starting Balance = $20,000
Season to date: 1 - 1 @ 50% ----- Bank = $18,880 @ 94.4%

Alrighty then........Just the one system play shows up for this round but it is mighty strong. The game involved is the big showdown between the reigning 3-peat champions Brisbane Lions and the currently only undefeated team, St Kilda Saints. Different books have either one as favourite, depending where you go. The 'Express says it's a 'no contest'.......take

Brisbane Lions ML over St. Kilda

Therefore laying 20% of the bank = $3,776 @ $2 returning $7,552

I got this on last night but the price for Brisbane is dropping like the Argentinian dollar as punters can smell the bargain!! Get on before it drys up. Lions will be the outright fave by gametime. ;)

This reminds me of last years Grand Final when Collingwood was the fave and the System picked Brisbane to win. Lions hammered them!!

I don't think they will hammer the Saints....but they will teach them their "roll" in the greater scheme of things!!! :D

A thanx must go out to Sammy Newman, on the Footy Show last night, for telling Brisbane's Jason Akermanis that Brisbane won't beat St. Kilda because they are "too cocky, smug and arrogant" after winning the last three flags.
Akermanis was dirty on him and had that look on his face that said you'll eat those words. He was mighty pissed off!! I'm hoping the rest of the Brisbane guys were watching the show. :D

Also hearing on the radio about some doubts on the Saint's Aaron Hamill playing in the Saturday night clash.

;)

Wish I was in OZ to see the show. Sam is an absolute crack-up and aker is nothing short of a dick! Sam is not known as holding back in regards to what is on his mind and I'm glad he put aker in his place. I'm sure you guys got a kick out of it.

It has been a while since you've been home, bomber!!

Far be it for me to start anything other than footy debate in a footy thread!...but, Sam Newman is nothing more than an egotistical simpleton, who lost all semblance of footy knowledge somewhere around the mid 70's.

Sorry, I just think he's an amazingly annoying man.

Good to see we agree on Aker tho mate! :D

Brisbane staedily coming in, PAWA ;)

Yep, been a while since I've been home but won't be too long until I'm back, and able to watch game after game of 'real' footy. All over the lions today. :D

I'm probably not the best guy for this, 'cause to be honest my memories of the last half are a little sketchy! :D ...(It's not often the Doggies get a win, ya know!)

Last 2 minutes.....

...scores level. Luke Power kicks a goal. Brisbane up by 6.
(Now it was a channel 10 game, so they had that ****ing stupid count down clock...not the actual game clock, so hard to tell at what times these things happened.)
...Jones kicks a POINT for St. Kilda THAT MISSED BY ABOUT A METRE!!!! It was clearly out on the full, but was awarded as a point.
Still....no drama's I thought. Bris up by 5. Very short time left.

Sure enough, kick in. hold. Chip kick. hold. Keeping possession and running down the clock. Then!!....
..for no real reason (can't remember who it was) but they kicked it 50 metres across the ground from the back pocket to the other flank!! Scott (?) dropped a fairly tough mark, Schwarze swooped and kicked the winning goal!

All of a sudden that 'point' was a crucial call!

In all honesty, St. kilda were probably the better team all night. They lead by 25 points at one point in the last.
But REALLY, one TERRIBLE umpiring decision, and a very unusualy Brisbane mental mistake cost the game.

I hope PAWA's ok! .... Next week mate.

OK. I'll cop going down fair and square but I won't cop this one quietly. After leading for the middle two quarters and "peppering" the goals with inaccurate kicking, the Saints head into the last quarter looking like winners. The Lions had other ideas and came charging back into the game with a 7 goal quarter that snatches the lead back with about 3 minutes to go. Granted, they then made the mistake of trying to save the game by holding onto the footy across the back line. But what gets my goat is the second last shot at goal by St. Kilda that was clearly out of bounds on the full. The goal umpire went on to pay the single point and the margin came in to just a five point Brisbane lead. They attempted to run down the clock but a turn over gave the Saints a last gasp kick that went through for a goal. The goal that would give them the 1 point victory. The game should have been a draw more fittingly.
I must also make mention of the Lynch mark in the goalsquare that wasn't paid earlier in the game and the St. Kilda bump-ball mark that was paid. This resulted in a 12 point turnaround in the Saints favour.
Now I know that the Saints had more scoring shots in the game but in AFL the team that has more shots doesn't always win (see Kangaroos v Bulldogs for example  ). This is a system winner in everyway bar in the bank balance. The umpires clearly cost us the money and I'm not funkin impressed. I do feel sorry for the big guys that they have probably lost some huge money on this outcome. The time has now come for four goal umpires or some hi-tech ball chip method so that the scoring is accurate.

Now I'll generally cop a loss as that's the hobby we choose to run with.......But this will go down as the biggest rip-off since BEANTOWN JIM got done by the GREAT CASCADE ROBBERY of 2003!!!

Starting Balance = $20,000
Season to date: 1 - 2 @ 33.3% ----- Bank = $15,104 @ 75.5%

A long way to go before September comes, but mark this game down for 'revenge' come Finals time. The Saints will pay for this much like Collingwood did last year!!

Now after my Kangaroos lost by a point yesterday and my big system play was dudded by a point last night, I can now look forward to my Roos playing Brisbane 'on the rebound' next week. Oh won't that be fun?!! :(

RANT NOW OFFICIALLY OVER...........
