Well........we've had the mid-season break and now it's time to get back into the AFL action.
I've been giving the ol' girl a bit of a tidy up and maintenance during the break. Cleaning the windows, polishing the chrome, windexed the gauges and steam cleaned the carpets (well there are some Canadians on board!! )and now she's ready to roll out and continue her good form. I don't know how long she can keep up that 75% strike rate for, so lets roll to the first selection for this week and find out.

First up we have the Friday night game between Essendon v Geelong. The Bombers haven't been travelling too well with constant injuries to key players while Geelong have been serviceable in knocking up just the 3 wins thus far. Essendon have won 4 of the past 5 encounters but the most recent game last year was an easy Geelong victory.
The system says to go with...
Geelong +13.5 v Essendon
20% of the $17913 = $3583......and I'm casually placing that down on the Cats @ $1.90 returning $6807

I don't mind this one at all

Essendon 129 defeated Geelong 93

The Bombers too good for the Cats tonight. System was probably due for a loss after four straight wins. Longer streaks to come, historically speaking. Unfortunate to get back below the 200% barrier.

Tonights setback only makes me like the second selection even more in the Port Adelaide v Sydney game tomorrow afternoon. These teams have played 8 times with Sydney leading 5 - 3 head to head. Both teams are in great form, with Port on top of the ladder winning 8 of their last 9 and Sydney fourth, winning 7 of their last 8. Both teams have also been the best two defensively speaking thus far. The system says to grab the points start....

Sydney +26.5 v Port Adelaide
20% of the $14,330 = $2866......and I'm ringing the man to lay it down on the Swans @ $1.85 returning $5302

Now I'm hoping for a tough ol' defensive struggle where 100 odd points wins the game. Sydney can get within 26 of the ton.
Also, of Ports 3 victories against Sydney, the greatest winning margin was 29. The other two were single digits.

It should be a ripper of a game

Well I was right about one thing.....about 100 points wins it. Unfortunately Sydney just couldn't kick enough score and squandered some early shots at goal against the wind in the first qtr.

Two losses in a row has seen the Pawamech figures take a hell of a pounding, but she will rise from the ashes of the smouldering bankroll and surge forward once more!!!

The third selection for this week is in the Brisbane v Richmond game tonight at the Gabba. The system likes......

20% of the $11,464 = $2,293......and I'm begrudgingly laying it down on the Tigers @ $1.85 returning $4242

Don't know what to say.....3 misses on end have killed off 9 weeks of good work. It's the price I pay for an aggresive 20% policy. Still in front so I can't complain. The problem is that there is one more system selection for this week but I can't bring myself to play it......

Hawthorn -3.5 v Fremantle

Ahh stuff it!! Where's my bagman? Take 20% of the $9,171 = $1,834......and slam it down on the Hawks giving the 3.5 @ $1.90 returning $3,484

Can say it's a beautiful day here in sunny Launceston. Still a bit chilli...should max out at about 11-12, but perfect footy conditions.

Have tipped Freo so will be there having a few ales, cheering the Dockers on.
Won't be betting on the game tho, so won't be too disappointed if the Hawks get up for you mate.

Should be a good game either way.

Well "hala-freekin-luya".....the system picks its sorry arse up off the floor and comes through with a winner to wrap up one sorry weekend of selections!!!
It hurts to give 7 grand $$ of winnings back to the man but thats the game that we play. You win some and ya lose some:shrug: .
Better to be a few grand up than a few grand down . I checked back through the previous seasons figures and found 2 losing streaks of 6, 1 of 5, 3 of 4 and 3 of 3. Yet every year it finished at least double the starting bank. My faith is still strong and there are plenty of games to get through before we pull into the station for the final time at seasons end.
The passengers are not talking to me as I pass between the carriages but the numbers will stack up fine when the ride's over.
Keep the faith folks.
