I went down to renew my drivers license yesterday and oh to my surprise I was informed that i had an unpaid traffic ticket from 1988 in another state:shrug:
I was told that I could not renew my license till I took care of this ticket....I can not remember 2 years ago not to mention 26 years ago? I do not remember getting the ticket, for fucks sake. Now I am thinking, do I have a bench warrant? are they going to charge me interest? I hired an attorney from the city that the ticket was issued. My question is......I never went to court, and I doubt the officer is still working after all this time. Should I just pay the fine, or see if they can prove that I am the person pulled over 26 years ago. This to me is fucking stupid.......The attorney cost me $400.00 retainer fees and has not returned my call. WTF ?

shoulda called them 1st to see what the fine was for the ticket before shelling out the $400

I think that the only time you can challenge the offense is on the original court date for the officer to show up

Then it's probably not your ticket. My memory has gone to shit but I can remember every ticket I have ever received.

I know, that is what is bothering me. Which is going to cost more money? Paying the damn ticket or arguing my point that it is not me that got the ticket? This is BS, and yet I need my license renewed as it expires in a few days.

I had the same exact thing happen to me. Not 26 years ago but 12. Cost me 800 to get it taken care of. It was in Texas though so I couldn't understand in all of the times I've been pulled over why nobody ever said anything about it.

What sucked for me was that I remember the ticket and swear I paid it. But that was 12 years ago and many moves in between. I of course had no proof that I paid it.
