I was wondering what all of you thought about paying for services with guys like Jim Feist and all the other "Champion Handicappers?" I've had a few call me but they're pretty bad salesmen. They throw a bunch of big numbers at me trying to convince me I'll have 10K in the bank by Sat., all for just $300. I've received two free picks from them that hit but they were'nt anything I hadn't heard from cappers here at MadJacks. So, If you do, have or know someone who does have an account with guys like this, let me know what you/they think about the value of the information received for amount paid. Thanks.

jdh,

How old are you?

How long have you been betting on sports?

More importantly, how long have you been handicapping?

Fiest and others of his ilk prey on innocent, unsuspecting victims. Stay far away. Many of these touts are shills for sportsbooks and they will lead you like a lamb to the slaughterhouse in the blink of an eye.

If you have questions about any aspect of sportsbetting (i.e., money management, betting strategies or handicapping), you can ask your questions in this forum and you will receive an honest answer.

Pay attention to the veteran handicappers in this forum. If you lurk in here long enough, you'll know who they are. Look at their selections, monitor the results, then try to figure out why they chose that particular side. It will help you with your handicapping.

Touts are bad news.

Not all services are bad news. There is a big difference between a handicapper who sells picks & a tout who focuses on sales over handicapping.

I stand corrected.

I agree with TCSN's statement about a handicapper who sells his plays in contrast to a tout who focuses on sales and advertising.

Unfortunately, a solid handicapper who sales his plays is in a very, very small minority.

Like 1/10 of one percent.

But good ones or poor ones keep one thing in mind.
Say you play $55 per game and paid $500 for a service for the year. You need to have that service hit 55% to break even.
Say you play $110 per game and paid $1000 for a service for the year. You need to hit 55% to break even.
And I hope you understand how hard it is to hit 55% a year.
The above is based on 200 plays a year.
So who ever you go with better hit over 55% or your out money. Please don't buy into all those high percentages they talk about.
Take a look at some the service that are posted here every weekend. Heck most are under 52%.

All my family is in business and sales so I know a thing or two about selling. Like I said this guy was horrible. I didn't believe him for a minute. I was just curious what you guys thought about those services. To answer your questions: 22 yrs. old, betting for over 1 yr. and I've been following this forum and it's members for a little over 2 yrs. I read these forums almost everyday. I have learned a lot from all of you here and I appreciate your concern. I guess my thread made me sound like a poor innocent little gambler who just wanted to win and would take advice from anyone. This is far from the truth. Honestly, my thread was intended to make fun of these hustlers who throw out 'dollar green dreams" at people. They wanted my credit card # before asking my name!

Just to show you how stupid he was...
jdh:i lost a tease with Buffalo +10; they pushed, so I lost.
dumbass hustler:man, you should have taken Oakland, they kicked their ass
jdh:click!

The guy didn't even know who they freakin' played!
Anyway, thanks for sharing your concern. If anyone has any funny, or should I say ludacris(spelling?) stories, please share.:D

Jdh---well, here is my story for you.........

Back when i was first starting out in the world of sports wagering, I got deep in the hole, and heard a Wayne Root Advertisement. I called him up, hoping he would bail me out and after letting him sway him for about 5 mins, i gave him my CC# and paid for Root's NFL and college football games. Well, he won some, and lost some, and for about three weeks was on absolute fire. So i start seeing my bankroll grow rather rapidly, and am feeling really good. Well, one day I get a random call from this guy in Vegas, that was a tout, saying he was so and so, from XYZ capping service, and said he got my number from a sportsbook website I had visited. After talking to him for a while, he somehow persuaded me to go with him, promising me the world, but for $500 a week. Well, I was making good $$$$ with Root at the time, so I said ok. I continued the next week to win with root, cleared about $1500 that week, and this new guy was just giving me loser, after loser. Then, Root called again and snaked his way into getting me to pay for next year's football a year in advance. I was still up a good bit of $$$, and said sure.

Well, the next day this new guy called and proposed the same question, asking me to pay for next year's NFL in advance, and he promised me that if he didnt start winning 60% i could have my money back. So i, being an idiot, pay him $3k for his NFL picks for next year. Well, things got a little weird after that, b/c every day when id hang up with my Root guy, 5-10 mins later this other guy would call me about the daily plays, it was almost like clockwork. Well, Root started losing, and this other guy started losing, and I was going down like the Titanic. So i get my credit card bill, started freaking out, and called American Express up and told them to do a Chargeback on this new guy that I had signed up with and not to pay him a dime. So they did it and it didnt cost me a penny. Feeling relieved, and deciding to only stick with my Root guy, I get a call the next day from my Root guy, and he was screaming and hollering about how i agreed to pay for the service plays and that I wasnt allowed by law to do a chargeback. I said, "what are you talking about?" " I never did a chargeback to Root?" He then said, "Yes you did, yesterday at this time...."
I then told him I was on to his scam, and that whoever this other guy was, was in with my Root guy, and they both were scamming me!!!!!!!!!
I was sooooooooo furious!!!!!!! Anyway, the lesson I learned was that way too many of the big, flashy services out there are just Scammers, and they are all in it together! (well, alot of them are) And after I realized what was going on, I realized that one day root gave me a certain play, and 5 mins later when the other guy called, he would give me the opposite side of that previous play so that no matter what, one of em looked like a winner.

Anyway, just beware of the big tout services out there.............

I always listen to Greg Roberts on a local am radio station every week and get his opinion on a few of his games. I'm sure some of you have heard of him, especially those in the southeast. He is a guest of about 15 radio shows from Portland to Tampa. During each interview, he always gets a plug in for his website and his 900 line where you can buy all of his picks. He always advertises a price of $15.95 for all his picks for that week. (NCAAF and NFL) I have never paid for picks and don't think I ever will. But that price seems reasonable if you were gonna pay for a service. I just don't understand how these other people can charge $1500-$3000 for one season of picks. I mean, you would have to be dropping like 5-10 large every week on games to break even on the season! Maybe some of you guys bet that much each week... Me, I guess I'm just a small timer who dabbles in the sport just as a hobby. :nutkick

Please enlighten me...

well its kinda complicated but I will do it in a nutshell.

First you get alot of money. Then you take that money and hone your skills learning everything you can learn about one big play one big game...... I mean you do your homework. You wait for that edge that we are all searching and looking for .....and then when it appears and all the stars are aligned...... you :

TAKE THAT BANKROLL AND YOU THROW IT THE FAWK DOWN ! AND I MEAN SLAM IT HARD !

hope that helps

this is the worst advice i have ever heard!!!!! get alot of money and then blow it on one game??? what kind of dumb chit advice is that??

let me tell you why this does not work..

NO SUCH THING AS A SURE THING!!!! my god this is a lesson you havent learned yet? your throw it down record is hitting 0% this year!

THERE ARE UNCAPABLE VARIABLES IN EVERY GAME uncappable variables can turn a winning ticket into a looser on any given sunday!

Fumbles, INTs, kick and punt returns, in game injuries, and bad calls.. can phuck you good.. just ask the NCAA guys about a horse chit pass interference call in the endzone a couple of thursday nights ago.. cost every one in the forum money..

THE BEST TEAM DOES NOT ALWAYS WIN
just because you picked the right side of a game and your team dominates doesnt mean you will always win..

Ask the Steelers!!! held the texans to 47 yrds and still lost!

bottom line is this is not a sprint its a marathon........ win week to week betting no more than 4% of your bankroll...

as far as paying people? dont be ridiculous... there are more than enough fine handi cappers right here with enough great info!
just pay attention and you can make some great $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

good luck guys!!!:D
