If anyone here uses pay pal, you will want to read this!

I usually use pay pal for ebay auctions and for my online sports book. The other day i checked my bank account and over $2,000 was missing! the withdrawl was to pay pal.

i checked my paypal account and someone had cracked my password, withrew 2 grand from my account, and sent it to someone i have never heard of! (STOLEN DIRECTLY FROM MY BANK!)

i tried to call paypal,
all automated!
i have sent numorous emails,
no reply!
the only thing they have done is frozen my account for now so no one can steal more money from me!

i emailed the guy who the money was sent to and told him that i reported him and i hope they throw his ass in jail! he replied in broken english and gave me some bs. Hes not even from this country so i dont think he will get in any trouble!

what am i to do?  :thefinger

If you need help from PayPal email RyanK@Paypal.com. I hear he is most helpful. At this point dont know what he can do but if your having trouble contacting someone there you go.

Just a question and not trying to rub salt in the wounds.

Did you have a realatively easy password or was it a word that could be found in some sort of dictionary? I have always been leery of paypal in the past but I still use it against my better judgement. I have a password that is pretty non standard (letters numbers symbols).

If you tell me that you had a password setup like mine, I am getting the hell out of dodge!!!

 :(

paypal is making way to much and strong of a money making tool for them not to get to the bottom of your problem,it might take a while but i am betting they will get your money and didnot know the ebay deal went through i knew they were working on it,the guys that came up with paypal are now set for life times 5 or 6.

you will or should get a postive result. i know it doesnot help you now but they will find out what happened.

Just remember Gibber, most 1/2 way decent attorneys nowadays charge anywhere b/t $100-$200 bucks! Only winner in the group will be the one holding the law degree. Personally, I'd give it a couple of weeks to see if they can straighten it out. They are a publicly traded company and therefore have an internal system of checks and balances. I'd say they'll eventually find the problem and you'll be reimbursed the full amount that was taken from your account. Each individual acct. is insured up to $100k by Travelers Insurance(NOT FDIC).

I've had an acct. for nearly two years now and never had a problem(knocking on wood), but I have heard of a few people that have similiar scenarios to your own. With any newely formed corporation, they'll be some growing pains along the way, and I think this situation is a prime example. If I had to guess, I'd say you'll have it back in your acct. by the end of the week...

been there, done that, but I was fortunately only defrauded 250 dollars. After 2 weeks, I luckily got my money back. The customer service absolutely sucks. As soon as my money was returned, I cancelled my account.

Here's the thread if u care to read it http://www.madjacksports.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43978&highlight=paypal

this page has contact info, another disgruntled user set it up http://contactpaypal.homestead.com/

this is the phone number 1-877-6-PAYPAL (1-877-672-9725)

I emailed ryank as well, and although he was nice enough to email me back, investigations is not his department, so he therefore could only forward my info.

I also find it interesting that the crook emailed u back! The crook in my case never returned an email. IMO, a lawyer is a waste of time in this situation. Just cross your fingers and hope they refund u. You can file a police report locally as well if u wish.

U can also look at www.paypalsucks.com U might find some info there.

When u call paypal, u will have to go thru your whole story with the operator, then they will transfer u to investigations. Here, u most likely will have to leave a message. LUCKILY, on my fourth try, a girl answered in investigations and I was able to talk to her. Also, don't expect any personalized emails from paypal. Good luck, I hope u get your money back!

Hey Gibber

Hey Gibber

Sorry this happened to you.

I have another question pertaining to how someone got into your account...

Did you ever access Paypal through a link from another website? If you did this, that might have been a fake link which put up a page IDENTICAL to paypal's and simply read your password as you typed it in.

If your browser doesn't say "https" (note the 's') when you're at the paypal website, then its not paypal. Always check that. I don't even have paypal bookmarked. Every time I go there, I type it into my browser.
