Question for anyone that can help out. I noticed yesterday in the systems screen of the control panel, that I had 480mb of RAM. I have 2 256mb sticks on the board, so shouldn't my total be 512mb? Why the 32mb difference?

Having an inquiring mind, I took a look today. Stick #1 (came with PC) is a 'elixir' PC2100U DDR 256mb 266mhz CL 2.5, also it's serial number is '75B'. Stick #2 (store bought) is a spectek kbyte PC2100 256mb, it's serial number ends in '75A'.

Note stick 2 does not have a "U" after the PC2100, nor does it mention the mhz speed or CL (Cache Level?).

Are these ok to mix

When I had the PC open on the floor, my daughter asked what the sticks were, I explained it was like the computers brains. She said "Oh, so it lost it's mind":tongue

Your motherboard could be using part of main memory as video memory. Do you have an actual video card, or is it integrated to the mboard???

What OS? (sometimes people who run WinXP have problems with progs that run great on earlier systems.)
Mismatched RAM would make the system run slower, but as long as RAM is good, it should run without errors.

Have you run memtest???
