I know it's not until Tuesday night, but I'd suggest a play on Penn in the final Ivy regular season game. Of course, it depends what the line is. I figure it to be Penn -7.5 or so. But, I think Penn wins this game by DOUBLE DIGITS.
The Quakers are the best team in the Ancient Eight and have already dismantled Princeton AT JADWIN 62-38. Now, Penn hosts the Tigers at the Palestra in a MUST WIN situation.
Princeton is playing with a little house money at this point. If the Tigers lose, there will be a 3-way tie atop the Ivy. Princeton will then play Yale at a neutral site (in 1963, it was at Fordham) with the winner of that game playing No. 1 (due to tiebreaker) Penn for the right to go to the NCAA tournament.
Penn has played relentlessly since losing at Yale last month. Their "postseason" basically started a month ago, and boy have they responded when they NEEDED to win every game.
Yes....Penn has had bad league losses that Princeton has avoided. But, I'll play the BETTER team here, at HOME, with MUCH MORE at stake. Penn is a focused team right now. And I'm telling ya, this isn't your big brother's typical Princeton team, despite their glossy conference record.
I just home the oddmakers make this line low because of Princeton's reputation. Penn wins BIG.

Penn was a 1.5 dog on Tigers court earlier i beleive so i would think that this line will be around 6.5 this time around. I would get on it early because it should go up.

Penn, Princeton and Yale have been playing tourney ball for a month now. Penn is the best of the trio and should force the playoff. Penn could actually win a game or two in the dance if they make it.

Should be a good week of hoops in the Ivy.

damn............Penn -10 for the opening line.
I'll still play it, just a little smaller. Vegas knows that this game could be a blowout.
The only way Princeton covers this number is if it can dictate the tempo throughout and drain it's 3's. Princeton plays horribly and out of its system when they fall behind. Penn should dominate the boards also.

Line opened at Penn -6 this afternoon in Vegas and the wise guys immediately took it to Penn -10.

Penn is the side but can they cover?

I like them at the half?

damn wise guys......guess ya gotta live in Vegas to bet into the soft lines early...... i heard they only let a handful of "big-timers" bet on these games early.......and that's how the line moves so fast, so quickly.
I took Penn -9.5......all my offshores have that number right now. Not playing the first half....I think the better value is that Penn wins by double digits at the final buzzer.
Super.....any word on the play-down site for Thursday? I'm thinking Fordham or Columbia. You going? I'll be there.

thanks loophole........not exacty "neutral" for Yale and its fans, huh? Princeton should have 85 percent of the fans in Philly vs. the Elis.

right you are stag, eli fans should be screaming about that location, clearly favors princeton. it will be interesting to see if the line factors in any court advantage for the bulldogs if it comes to pass.

I'm still looking at this one, trying to figure out which way to go. I'm confident that Penn is the side but I'm still trying to figure out if they can cover.

For Princeton:

Princeton has had the #1 or #2 defense in NCAA division one the L5 weeks, limiting opponents to an average of 56 ppg.

For Penn:

19 of the L27 Princeton-Penn games were decided by 10 or more points, includling the L4.

Penn has been awesome in these "must-win" situations and I don't see how the better team can lose playing in front of a sold-out crowd on their home court. On the other hand, Princeton definitely would like to put an end to this now as I'm sure that they don't want to go into a playoff where their chances get worse not better.

FWIW I took a big position on Penn at -7.5 at Camelot.

If the line goes back up I might go for a middle, I don't see it going down much lower.

I'll report back later.

I'm sticking with Penn -7.5, it's good to know Ivy guru Stag has them and needs another bucket to cover. LOL

My rationale is that Penn is the right side here (better team, shooting lights out, major home court advantage, backs against the wall) and that in 70% of L29 games between these two teams were decided by ten or more points.

Princeton will definitely try to slow the game down to start, but if the Tigers get down big early they'll be forced to play Penn's more up-tempo game.

If Penn can get a good start and get the crowd into it, watch out!!!

Penn is currently -8 at Olympic and Pinnacle...........I think this line will not budge as it has settled in between the opening line of 6 and the high of 10. I believe it is Senior Night at Penn today as well. I hope someone can confirm this. Penn is the class of the Ivy League and the only team in that division, in my opinion, with a chance to win a game or two in the Big Dance. I predict Penn wins tonite:

Penn 70
Princeton 60

Kidd's Corner......
I like that final! Sounds good to me!!

Super....If Penn wins by 8 or 9, the least you can do is by me a beer!

I didn't put any more $$$ on the game.....I put enough on it last night at -9.5. Would have REALLY loaded up on it at -7.5 Saw 8's all day today. Some more Penn money must be coming in after several Princeton backers pushed that line from 10 to 7.5
Oh well........still like the Quakers by a two-digit number in this one.
Last month at Jadwin: Penn 24, Princeton 3 to open the game......how about something like that again.....please!

six minutes into the game and Penn has yet to make a basket. The good news is they trail just 2-1.
But, I was afraid of 2 scenes, Princeton controlling the tempo and Princeton hitting 3's. While they have not made a 3 yet, Princeton has its tempo early. BIG problems for Penn tonight.......and for ME!

wow......this pace TOTALLY favors Princeton, and WE still lead by 5 at the half. I still like Penn to cover for the game.
