Double Two related a sports story of his that he vividly remembers after many years, so I was wondering
if anyone else had anything they could relate.

I have some.

Was a pretty decent basketball player way back in my high school days & I wore jersey #22. Remember fondly what my coach said in an interview after we won our county championship..."I just told our guys keep feeding the ball too old DOUBLE TWO". Think I averaged around 25PPG my senior year but of course as the years, & the beers, have gone by that # has increased dramatically.

My passion has always been basketball. Not to watch it alot but to play.

I have played all my life when I get the chance.

In High School I was a Junior and our basketball team won the State Championship .

Even though I did not get to play as the season closed out, I did get in at times during the year.

It was a wonderful experience riding the bus to the out of town games
with the team, playing jokes, and practicing everyday.

We had the Phillips boys on the team. They were brothers. Joe was a skinny 6'7" and his older brother
who was a solid 6'5". They were both mean as hell and you just didn't say much to them or suffered
the consequences.

The locker room speechs from the coachs were something. Especially when we were behind at half-time.

It was a great time and memorys.

Sorry, missed that one earlier.

i got some more pal

maybe BBC or your friend whinerguy will chime in with a sports story about them.

oh I forgot they were too fat and sloppy to get off the ground.

You really have a weird infatuation with BBC and wineguy, there was no mention of them in the thread until you tried to stir something up. Hopefully one day you can move on and you can have as healthy a friendship with them as the one I have with you. :0074

Here is a golf story .

Years ago in the early 60s my grandfather took up golfing. He loved it. He went every chance he got. Golfing was so out of character for him. He ended up after retirement working at a golf course so he could play for free.

So one day we are sitting around the table at his camp in the mountains, and he says, you know one thing that bugs me about golfing is that I lose so many balls and can't find them. I don't know its the white ball in the brush that's hard to see or something.

My aunt who was about 15 at the time, says why don't they just make the balls orange ?

My grandfather had a good laugh over that one. Ha ha ha ha ha orange golf balls......

Pretty sure the color of a ball, whether it is a golf ball or any other sort of ball, isn't something you can get a patent or trademark on.

Good family story though. :0corn

It's late, take your pills and hit the sack. Tomorrow is a new day that will surely lead to new stories.

I bet your aunt makes shit up. Granddad too. That kind of stuff runs in families.

My sport story involves grant park, a wolf and a team of accountants from a mid-tier firm that believed that they belonged with the big boys in life, accounting but especially on the softball field. It was a story if grizzled veteran playing at short center and a young gun from the Midwest holding down first, and a well stocked mail room that had hitting talent for days. With belief, guile and a complete disregard for clients on Mondays, they put together a run and brought home the Chicagoland accountants softball league trophy. Those days ..... Man ...... We were kings.
