Anyone ever have any success with these?

Got a 10 month old lab that likes to ramble.

yup, works great. i have 2 poms and a yorky and they know exactly where the boundry is.

the one will say "fuk it" and crash it to chase a rabbit or deer but she comes right back home.

the other 2 don't want anything to do with crossing the boundry.

I think Petsafe is the brand you buy at a Home Depot type retail store and install yourself. This product works best with small yards and small breeds. Do you have access to a trencher or cable plow? If not, you will have to hand dig a seam to bury the wire. One consideration is the square footage of the area to be enclosed naturally.

I have two labs and had a PetStop system installed when they were 6 months old. I enclosed about one acre of area for $700 (this was five years ago). This price included two collars; the battery plan is extra.

I remember researching the options at the time and heard of cases where bigger breeds will ramble right through the shock zone, then be too intimidated to return. Thus the whole concept backfires and puts your pet at even greater risk. What sold me on Petstop was the training aspect. The installer was a certified trainer and actually returned for three follow-up training sessions. They circle the area with white flags and teach the animal to respect the tone -- when they get close it's a preshock warning that gets their attention. The training is critical no matter what brand you choose. My labs caught on very quickly and it only took one shock at a very mild level to let them know the new rules. GL with your decision and your sports wagers too.

We have a wireless that works great, for us. I say for us because it only works in a circle. But if your boundaries are such that you can make it work for you, it's great. We laid the wire on our first one and it was a pain in the ass. Got accidentally dug up, cut and chewed through. Had to retrain dog each time.

As has been pointed out already, the training is critical. Probably more so than the fence itself.

Also, don't leave the collar on during a thunderstorm! Dog can get zapped.

Priced around $200-250 on ebay and $320 at lowes.
