PGA Golf Tour features brand new event
The dog days of summer mean a steady supply of MLB Baseball as well as a ton of PGA Golf for sports bettors.
This week, before the high-profile WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the final major of the year, the US PGA Championship, comes a new event on the PGA Tour, the Greenbrier Classic at the Old White Course at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
Golf betting fans will find a wide-open field this week, as many of the world?s top golfers skip the Greenbrier Classic before what are essentially the last two big tournaments of the year and the FedExCup playoffs.
World No. 1 Tiger Woods and No. 2 Phil Mickelson will both pass on the event.
The highest ranked player competing this week will be World No. 5 Jim Furyk, who also happens to be the favorite in PGA Golf Odds at betED.com, at +1200 to win the Greenbrier.
World No. 24 Matt Kuchar is next at +1800, followed by Nick Watney, ranked 32nd, at +2000.
In all, the field includes just two of the top 25 players in the world and seven of the top 25 on the FedEx Cup points list, but there are five PGA Tour winners from this season competing, including Furyk, who will be looking for his third victory of 2010.
The Golf Channel will air all four rounds from 3-6 pm ET.
