Even though its still early and the Falcons dont like to be embarressed at home on Monday night football.

I have seen enough to get on this play early.

that offensive line is in shambles.

No protection and not holes made for running backs.

Tight end was hurt and they have no back up.

Julio Jones signs his 70 million dollar deal, so any motivation is gone from that.

This line is going up before game time.

Possible way up.

Philly brings in offense. Falcons defense still sucks dog shit.

PHILADELPHIA -- The Philadelphia Eagles have every reason to feel good about themselves after two preseason games. They have won both games by a combined score of 76-27 and amassed 888 yards of offense.:popcorn2

This weekend brings a good test. The Eagles travel to Green Bay for a preseason game against the Packers. Last year, they went to Lambeau Field and were destroyed, 53-20.

It was the game that illustrated how far the Eagles were from the NFL?s elite, a lesson Chip Kelly applied while radically reconfiguring his team during the offseason.

Is Sam Bradford a true upgrade over Mark Sanchez? The new quarterback will get to test himself against the Packers' defense.

Ditto for running backs DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews, who will get to play against a defense that held the Eagles to 109 rushing yards last season.

But the biggest test will be presented to the Eagles? reconstructed secondary. Aaron Rodgers threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns in that game. This time, he won?t be playing the entire game, and he?ll be without wide receiver Jordy Nelson. But Rodgers represents the highest level of quarterback play.

?I'm excited,? defensive coordinator Bill Davis said. ?I hope Aaron plays a lot because I'm really excited to see our guys go up against them. We took a pretty good beating last year down there, and we're excited about the challenge. We love competing against the best, like Aaron is, and they've got some quality receivers that hopefully they play that first half and we can really get a good test of where we are.

?And even in the second half when Aaron Rodgers isn't in, they're still moving that ball, throwing it around, and they've got depth at the receiver position, and we'll be challenged. It'll be interesting to see where we are.?

As well as the Eagles did against Andrew Luck and Joe Flacco, this should be a challenge.

?Just going up against that form of offense -- Rodgers, [Eddie] Lacy, they have a ton of talent -- it?s always good,? Eagles linebacker DeMeco Ryans said. ?In that third game, you do a little bit of game planning. You want to let your [starters] go a little longer. It will be a good matchup for us.?

The Packers will be without Jordy Nelson, who tore his ACL over the weekend. Nelson caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown in last year?s game. Bradley Fletcher, the cornerback Nelson victimized, is long gone.

But the Packers still have Randall Cobb, who caught 10 passes for 129 yards against the Eagles. Cobb often lines up in the slot, which is where the Eagles have been auditioning replacements for Brandon Boykin.

I read about how the iggles manhandled the ravens in 3 training camp practices.....and then watched em manhandle the ravens in a preseason game......

that team is formidable and have a coach that is about as unpredicatable as any in the league....

they`re gonna be a handful(Bradford or no Bradford)...

Levitre, 29, who was drafted in the second round of the 2009 draft by the Buffalo Bills, has started 96 of 96 games over his career. He joined the Titans in 2013.

At 6-foot-2 and 306 pounds, Levitre was not held in high regard after a poor 2014 season. He played 1,057 snaps and gave up six sacks, two hits and 24 quarterback hurries last season, according to profootballfocus.com.

The Falcons were looking for help for the offensive line after they are destroyed in the third exhibition game by the Miami Dolphins.

Falcons trade two draft picks for Levitre photo
Second round draft pick (51st overall) by Buffalo in the 2009 NFL draft. Spent last two seasons with Titans, but he was yanked from the starting lineup. He was traded to the Falcons on Friday. (Associated Press)
After four years in Buffalo, Levitre signed a six-year, $46.8 million contract before the 2013 season with the Titans. He is scheduled to make $6.5 million in base salary this season.

His performance in Nashville was generally considered spotty and didn?t live up to the size of the contract. He was replaced at left guard by Byron Bell over the offeason. He was considered too expensive to be a backup for the Titans.

The Falcons have been experimenting at left guard all offseason with Mike Person and James Stone working at the position.

KOD makes a few phone calls and manages a interview with Matt Ryan to see what his feeling are about the year, the offensive line, and the defense.

KOD - So Matt you got a easy schedule this year. Do you think you can have a big winning season.

Ryan - Are you kidding , we are about to be ass clowned

KOD - why do you say that ? Was it picking up Levitro today ?

Ryan - Well thats part of it. I cant wait for him to have my back.

KOD - Well the defense seems to be a upgrade , after all that is Quinns baby.

Ryan - to be honest , I may not play much with that defense on the field.

KOD - Roddy says you better get him the ball over the middle.

Ryan - He wouldnt know the middle of his ass crack.

KOD - gezz you seem kinda out of sorts.

Ryan - You would too if the Eagles were coming in here on Monday Night Footballs.

Since Thomas Dimitroff became general manager in January 2008, the Atlanta Falcons have drafted nine offensive linemen. Not a lot, when you think about it ? nine in eight drafts ? but still: That?s the number of O-linemen they took. We now call the roll of all those who remain on the active roster.

Jake Matthews.

End of roll call.

Technically, Lamar Holmes is on the physically unable to perform list, but everyone else is gone. Joe Hawley was just cut. Peter Konz took an injury buyout and went away. Sam Baker was released in June. Mike Johnson retired in June. Jake Rodgers, who was a seventh-round pick in April, got cut. (He was considered a project, but still: Who made that pick?)

Under Dimitroff, the Falcons have drafted one offensive lineman ? Baker ? who was able to hold a job. (We assume Matthews will, but he was, given that he was the sixth overall pick in 2014, underwhelming as a rookie. He was also hurt. Funny how many Falcons draftees get hurt.)

I?d argue that Baker was actually given a bad rap in this burg: The Falcons needed a left tackle to give the then-rookie Matt Ryan a chance, and Baker sufficed. Then he got hurt, too.

But there are your numbers ? nine linemen drafted over eight years, one on the 53-man roster. The Falcons did sign Ryan Schraeder (now a starter) and James Stone (sometimes a starter) as undrafted free agents, but botching nearly every O-line pick means you have to scrounge. And now, with rookie head coach Dan Quinn given control of the final roster, we?re seeing how desperate this team has become.

The Falcons? depth chart lists Mike Person, who has worked in five organizations since 2011, as the starting center. The starting guards are Chris Chester, released by Washington in May, and Andy Levitre, who started for the Titans (a terrible team) last season but was available in trade for two draft picks.

Backups include Gino Gradowski, waived by Denver; Tyler Polumbus, benched in Washington last season and on his fifth organization since 2010; Bryce Harris, released by New Orleans last week, and the aforementioned Stone.

The good news, I guess, is that this cobbled-together line cannot possibly be worse than its predecessors. (Well, can it?) The bad news is that the Falcons, on the cusp of Opening Night, are still in the market for linemen. On Wednesday they signed another ? Ben Garland, cut by Denver last week ? and assigned him to the practice squad.

If nothing else, we might have gotten an answer to the question often asked: Why didn?t Dimitroff draft more linemen? Maybe because he realized he wasn?t very good at it. As Inspector Harry Callahan of SFPD famously said: A man has to know his limitations.
..........................................................................................

its truly amazing that the offensive line that takes the field have never played together as a group in a game.

and a new center to top it off.

:facepalm::facepalm:

The eagles fan in me loves your pick, especially considering I believe the birds will go 19-0, with chip and Bradford named co-mvps for the regular season, postseason, and Super Bowl.
The gambler in me says -3 -105 wtf?

Q: How?s rookie wide receiver Nelson Agholor coming along?

A: He?s got a chance to be a really special player. He?s shown that he?s already probably one of the better route runners that I?ve seen or played with in the NFL. I think that just speak volumes for his work ethic. He?s one of the hardest workers that we have here. Since we drafted him, he?s one of the first ones in the building every day. He always wants to do extra. He always wants to catch more balls. Sometimes, you have to calm him down say, ?it?s OK. You don?t need 500 balls today.? You just love to see that work ethic. He wants to be great. The drive is there. It?s really fun being around a young wide receiver who has such a passion for the game.

Q: What?s your assessment of the trio of running backs, (DeMarco) Murray, (Ryan) Mathews and (Darren) Sproles?

A: They are all different in the way that they run the football. I think for defenses that it makes it tough. They have to prepare for three different styles. When we get the tempo going, we?re playing fast and we?re starting to wear people down, with those three guys, we can rotate them in to keep those guys fresh. Especially, late in the game. I think having three running backs of that caliber is really one of our biggest advantages on offense.

Demarco Murray should rip that Falcons defense for 100 yds easily

FLOWERY BRANCH ? Falcons return specialist Devin Hester, who has a nagging turf toe injury, was declared out for the season-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles at 7:10 p.m. Monday at the Georgia Dome.

Linebacker Brooks Reed (groin surgery) was previously declared out.

Left tackle Jake Matthews (back), Wide receiver Roddy White (elbow), linebacker Joplo Bartu (quadriceps), running back Devonta Freeman (hamstring) and free safety Robenson Therezie (groin) are expected to play or be available to play.

Hester tested out his injured toe by running on the sidelines during the open portion of practice on Friday.

Wide receiver Eric Weems will likely take on the role of kickoff and punt returner for the Falcons. Nick Williams, Justin Hardy and running back Terron Ward are also available.

Losing Hester is blow to the Falcons? special teams units.

Hester, 32, is one of the most prolific return men in NFL history. He holds records for punt return touchdowns (14) and combined career return touchdowns (20).

not good for Falcons to be without Hester.

Falcons usually play well on Monday night games. I got the early line - 1

I am counting on Bradford and Murray to bring me to the cash window.
