Under is the play tonight in the MIN/PHL game, and here's why:
Six of MIN's 16 games last year went over 50 points, and only four of the Eagles games did. That's only 10 of 32 games.
In such a game, where everyone is expecting a shootout, it is logical to expect the coaches to try to play some ball control to keep the other team off the field. That will be especially true if one team opens up a 10-plus point lead. This could turn out to be one of those legendary up-and-down the field games, but the odds don't favor it.
Database guys: I would love to see the record for NFL games with o/u at 50 or over for the past 10 years. I only remember a handful of games where that's even happened, and the only ones I remember covering were when the Rams were unstoppable. I would surmise that blindly betting against 50+ totals is a 60% proposition, and that's all you can hope for in the NFL.
