Guess it's easier for players to track if I just continue this tourney in this thread instead of starting a new one each time I have something for this tourney. Actually, I gots very little for today's action though
Results from yesterday: Hmm looks like so so AT BEST.
Andreev: He continues to slide down the rankings and from the looks of yesterday's match... that's going to continue. One reason I picked him is that he looked pretty good vs. Clement in his last match and he's beaten much tougher than a "up n downer" like Baggie. I'm going to keep an eye on Baggie cause there's no doubt that he really does have his act together and he's staying on the UP cycle for the Open. Steering clear of Andreev though - I gotta forget how he USED to play.
Blake: When he was deep in his tailspin, RIGHT FROM THE START of his matches, he played like a LOSING Challenger type player. From the very first point and pretty much right up to the last point - HE COULDN'T HIT A BALL IN THE DANG COURT. He didn't do that at all yesterday even though they only got one game in before suspending the match. He looked OK to me. HEY, I see that most books are still offering this match today
You can get him at -130 though because he's up one game. I'm already on him and I kinda like my chances.
Today
NOT much. I do like a few huge favorites, but nobody needs me to pick them (I LUV parlaying SELECTIVE favorites in the first round of the BIG tourneys and that route has worked for me plenty of times).
Nadia Petrova -110: this is the match that I put ALL my time into and to be honest - think I'm taking a shot on account of the odds and not really finding much of an edge. Mattek-Sands was for a long time just a fatso, running around on the court, sporting the wierdest of outfits and (IMO) just wasn't into the game - mentally or physically. NOT ANYMORE though.
Petrova has always been "into the game" and a very serious competitor. What tipped the scales for me was that she is closing out her matches MUCH better than Sands and she's faced and beat better for quite some time. At -110, I'll give this one a shot. But BE CAREFUL - Sands is ranked something like 80th in the world and Petrova is 18th AND that fat guy with the cigar in his mouth and the wad of dough in his pocket is making this match even-stephen. That's usually a bad sigh. :0041
