the ravens you saw Sunday ARE the same ravens you saw last year. billick has ended 'the experiment'. 'the experiment'? yup.....after going through the whole season last year, with such a great defense and no offense, billick went out to get his missing ingredient........ a qb.

he thought, that by bringing in grbage, and with jamal, he could produce a 'rams' like offense to go along with his deadly "D". after losing jamal in preseason, for the year, and had already gotten rid of priest Holmes, he was left with nobody to run the ball and had to make some adjustments. adjustments that just didn't work out because grbage isn't the QB he thought he was and he had no running game to set up the passing game.

so, he tried, all season long, to run an offense that was pass oriented. it didn't work, and billick being the hard head he is, stuck with his new plan. he had grbage throwing the ball 40-50-60 times a game, and with no running attack, the opposition ONLY had to play pass protection and and pressure the QB. the ravens were falling apart.

on MNF, the final game of the season that they HAD to win, billick went back to 'dilfer' ball. run first, pass last. it doesn't matter if they go three and out, just punt the ball and let the "D" get it back for us. let the "D" force mistakes. let the "D" win the damn game and forget about the fancy offense and 'the experiment' with grbage.

guess what? they beat the vikes, but it was ugly. nothing flashy how the ravens win. they did it all last year (they were called "lucky"), all through the playoffs (on the road. teams they said we couldn't beat), all the way to the big ole ring they all now wear. and, that's what they're back to doing now. instead of jamal, they have 3 average backs that they rotate in and out (keeping fresh) and a 'little' better QB that is more accurate passing the ball when he has time. he WILL have time now that they have decide to run, run, run, because they will force the opposition to play the run. when they least expect it, they go downfield, with time, and with a better arm than last year.

if you think the ravens won last week because they played a poor dolphins team, you may be partly right, but the team going into Pittsburgh this coming Sunday isn't the same team you saw play pitt the first two games this year. we have a battle coming up this week and you're going to see cordell walking off the field shaking his head just like you saw the opposing QB's do in last year's playoff and superbowl games.

the ravens are back. THE REAL RAVENS, and they ain't gonna stop until they have repeated.

maybe a homer talking? maybe not ;)

You know what it reminds of, the Yanks in '99. After winning 115 games in 1998 (if my years are one-off, make the proper adjustments in your mind), they sort of coasted through 99. Everyone was talking about their problems and how they weren't the same team, and blah blah blah, but what happened come playoff time? They turned it back on (like professionals can do) and cleaned house.

As per my "ravens straight up" post, I may not be predicting a ravens victory, but I do like the 2:1, and I really like the 5.5 points. I see this game looking a lot like that tennessee game last year where special teams could play a big role. The punting woes hopefully have been ironed out, and I like the ravens in the stover-brown matchup.

What about the spread offense?

What about the spread offense?

Before you get too confident about their chances, remember what the spread offense exposed about them this year, and try to imagine the Rams running it against them.I saw even the low quality Dolphin receivers open many times, get hit in the hands, face or shoulder pads by the ball and drop it.(Miami was outplayed by Balt in the trenches, too, always a key.) The Raiders or Patriots will run the spread,if the Ravens win in Pittsburg like you guys seem to think. If Bill Cowhead isn't as dumb as he looks,he'll try thr spread this week.Agree with everything you said about the offensive side of the Ravens game, but how are they going to avoid getting carved up by someone using the spread like GBay did with comparable receivers and good Qb play?

I stand by my prediction of last week that while everyone (the public) was on Miami and saying Baltimore was thru, that Baltimore would win SU and look good in doing it making all think they were back and would be all over them this week and you should go against them.

And so far everything is coming ture according to my prediction, Balt won very impressively over Miami, all the Raven fans are bellowing that they are back and as I said last week to the Miami supporters:

Not so fast my friends: another great spot to lay it on the public, Pitt giving alot points in this caliber of a game. Baltimore band wagon growing:nono:

Pitt wins and covers.

Sorry Jack:D

Steelcity, i moved here 2 years ago from Pensacola, fl and i HATE the ravens. (why i left nice weather to live here, who knows) last year i had the Ravens throughout the superbowl and this is just a gut feeling! feel with the week layover for the steelers, will kill them. Antonio, my man!!! grab the Steelers at 4 (if you can) and lose your loot!! this is like "steel"ing!! candy from a baby. Ravens outright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TOM

ps: do not really HATE the ravens. lived in New England before the p-cola move and am a PATS fan! no clue on that game though

Stewart had 4 picks vs bungals, 2 more in 2qt's vs browns. Thats 6 picks in last 6 quarters played. He has now had 2 weeks to think about those ints. Are we now seeing the "old" Kordell Stewart? Now he goes up against the Ravens D. Should be interesting.

Well, my predictions held up very well on Baltimore allowing me to make a bundle on them last week and today.

Can't believe the Ravens are stuck with Grbac, he is a stiff and he was a stiff at KC before Billick went and got him. I guess Billick was so arrogant about his coaching ability, he thought he could make something out of this stiff. Well guess not and now Modell can eat all of Grbac's contract. I HOPE HE CHOKES ON IT. :thefinger

Thanks Ravens for the money, you played it just like I thought you would:)

the ravens have the option of releasing grbage after this season. if they keep him, he has a 5 year deal.

if they keep him, they lost a fan.

grbage is pathetic.

congrats on your plays!
