Hi Guys,

Looking for some advice/info. Planning a trip to Pittsburgh for the Sox-Pirates series in late June. Assuming we take a cab from the airport, where should we stay, close to PNC, with enough local establishments to visit while there? My buddies are hoping to keep the cost low, but I'll take any advice you have.

Thanks,
Shack

Jinx,

Cool! Maybe I know him, been in Braintree all my life.

I'm more concerned about booking a hotel early. Red Sox Nation travels well!! I figure tickets and flights can be found later. Have you booked a hotel yet? If so, where?

No maybe I will start calling tonight....trying to get a Marriot property since I have some points but the one near the stadium is booked. Are you driving or flying....ever go to the bar kinda near Strawberry valley...they got one in Quincy as well..Irish type with music on W/E's near the WM...can't think of it right now but some of the guys that might go hang there after the golf league. Will have to get in touch

you guys that travel often...you ever worry about the relatively new bedbug invasion here in the states?....

i`m reading that pest control companies are making a fortune treating motels/apartments and houses for these s.o.b.`s.....carry em home from an overnight and you`re in a world of hurt...

charging around $2500 to treat a home...with a very limited warranty...

scares the hell out of me..

Might have to sleep on the street then!!! Hopefully that have this figured out by June...also maybe staying in a Marriott will help...just booked the Marriott 1/2 mile from stadium for $189 a night with 2 Queens...Atleast I have something and will probably try to find something a little cheaper in the next day or two...GL...tickets are going to be hard to get because when I went to Atl they made me by a 6 pack of tickets but 3 of the games were the Sox series and we only paid $80 for all 6 and sold rest for $10 each

Stay downtown, eat at a restaurant on Mt. Washington. Walk from downtown across the Smith Street Bridge and take the incline up Mt. Washington. Eat lunch at Primanti brothers. Pittsburgh is my old college stomping grounds.

only go to the one in the strip district, the others aren't worth it, have to be at the original.

Guys, I would suggest staying at the Sheraton in Station Square. It's right on the river, many restaurants and a little night life too. There are a few hotels closer to or right around the park too. If you need me get my email from MJ....

or Springhill Suites North Shore is right next to PNC Park and may be a better option.

Yup - been there. The one in Quincy changed names a few years ago. Play in a golf league at the Valley on Wednesday nights.

Apparently, it is going to be harder than I thought to get tickets. I'll address the hotel today. Thanks for all of the input everyone!
