I am from Pittsburgh and I love this team.   I have a strong belief that this team believes in itself and is not scared of anybody. Does anyone know where I can bet them to win the wild card? And what the odds are? Thank you and have a nice night!!

I too am from Pittsburgh...grew up there all my life until I hit the real world last year and had to move to Philly after college.

Nevertheless, I would love to see a WINNING SEASON!! We haven't had one since they went to the NLCS against the Braves back in what, '92?!!! But let's be realistic here guys. Like I said, I would love to see a winning season and with the way they are playing and a few ups and downs, they could pull an above 500 season. Their starting pitching is solid for their payroll and the hitting has kept them in most games.

:scared :scared :scared :scared

But the WC???? What are you guys smokin?!! They have had a few seasons like this where they are starting off strong and then comes the All Star Break, they start to slip and then they take a nose dive. This coincides with the trade deadline when whatever prospects they have that are worth something are shipped out. Look around the league and you will see plenty of X-Bucos in starting rotations, lineups, etc. I know this late in the season (what, we are now between 1/3-1/2 of the way through the season) and they are right there. But I just can't see this happening. Not with the payrolls of other playoff caliber teams such as the Cubs, Dodgers, NL East (all teams). The Brewers too are surprising teams around the league but I can't see them hanging either.

Yes the Bucs took 3 of 4 from the fading Marlins, and 2 of 3 from te Braves (I was at the game Sunday...what a great win!!!), but we will have to see how they fair against rest of the AL East (not that these are the Yanks of old or Redsox of last year, but these are still considerably 'better' teams...the Yankees starting rotation makes more this year than the entire Pirates team. That is disgusting!! What's even worse is that they have identical records for all its worth!!!

Hopefully I am just talking myself out of that dream, as it would be one if they would pull it off. And I will be rooting every step of the way. But let's not get our hopes too far up only to be broken come October. I would be ecstatic to see a WC team, but a winning season would be satisfying for once as well.

Bucs are awesome. Went to the game last night for the eighth time this year and that crowd was so behind them. Just to keep this in mind, PNC PARK may finally be a home-field advantage! Will be there Friday too! I smell a W-C berth this year.
