as these keep coming back

oops Sorry Iam I misread your post. all mine end in .an also

That should not effect your emails being sent back. The .an is the country email code for the Netherlands Antilles. It's just like having .com except the US expected so many domain names that they came out with .com, .net, .org, etc.

I know this doesn't help your situation, but it is probably just a problem with their email server.

Sometimes if your email provider doesn't recognize their server (DNS issues) it will get returned. Might want to try to get a hotmail or yahoo account and send it to them via it.
