Hey, pd, what did you do when you were there? Curious if you tried anything that we had typed about in that thread.

Chad, yes we did, and I want to thank everybody again for all the helpful information.

It was a great vacation. Would definately go back.

We had a great guide from the hotel, I feel like he helped us a lot.

We rented a small bus with a guide for one day. That was when we went to the ruins and did some souvenier shopping. We didn't get to go to the Chicken place but did do Tulun(sp) and one down the road. We paid to have a guide with us and I felt it was really worth it. We learned things we never could have without him.

Another excursion we took was a package deal. It was around $95 per person. They picked us up at the hotel and we did the zip line deal. I would have bet a lot of money this overweight 52 year old would not have done that. We then left there and went snorkling for 2 hours. Then had a nice Mexican lunch. Then back to the hotel.

Four of us did go to town and walk the 15 - 20 blocks of souvenier shops. Smoked a good Cuban cigar. Most of the crap was way overpriced I thought.

The rest of the time was spent at the beach doing some major league drinking.

One thing I would recommend is taking some small bills with you. I took $200 in ones, and $200 in fives with me. It is really amazing how much better the service and the drinks are when you tip a little bit.

One other thing that impressed me was how clean and happy all the people were. The service at the resort was excellent. All the employees seemed happy and glad to help you. The food was fine, but could have been a little more varied. They didn't change things up much in the 9 days we were there.

All in all a very good time.

Yeah, compared to other jobs in the country, those jobs are desired and coveted. Working all day inside those fences has to be a good thing compared to other options in Mexico. The people are great, but I'd guess they have to be.

Playa is the greatest. Check out Alux, it's a restaurant and bar in a cave. There was also a really cool bar with a rooftop area that had beds on it and a very nice looking crowd.

Some of the places are more for hardcore partiers. A lot of x and white there.

Only downside, I got my card number stolen and didn't know for 2 weeks but someone down there was charging it up the whole time.
