Lots of european's, hand rolled cigars downton on the street, good restaurants, little older crowd, far enough from Cancun so not as many younger tourists, good nightlife. Cool place.
Sports, Playa is one of the best places to go IMO. What do you like to do? Active person, like just chilling out, partier?
Been there 7 times and just booked for next Feb. Where are you staying?
Chichen Itza is a must see but it is a long day.
Swimming with the dolphins is fun.
We stayed at Xcaret one year and the nite show is great.
Definately shop on 5th ave some nite. Lots of fun.
Take the ferry over to Cozemel. Great snorkling.
We did Isla Mujeres one year.
Horseback in the jungle and on the beach was good.
I went scuba diving several times and some of the best I've seen.
Tons of stuff to do there but don't book too many side trips you'll get tired out quick.

Did XCaret about 10yrs ago... kinda touristy but a really cool place.
Mayan ruins tours are cool.
IMO that's plenty of organized activities... eat, drink and beach round it out. Don't forget the sunscreen... anything more than 30min on your Maine white ass and you'll be gettin out the aloe instead of the KY.

When are you going down? We're headed down just south of Cancun next week. Will probably head down to Playa for a day to hang out. I enjoy Playa a lot more than Cancun.
If you like going out at night there are some really COOL places. How old are you? There is a great night life scene there.
I'm going the week after that may 1- may 7. I'm 51 years old and still like to party. the bad thing is the girl I'm going with can drink more than me. I'm only good for 12 to 15 beers.
Down near Akumal then? My sister has a house down there.
You'll be surprised on how much you can drink at one of the resorts.
Bars open at 10am! :toast:
Hangn out in there small downtown is the blast. My favorite area in Mexico. Take a day and take the boat taxi to Cozumel. Rent scooters for the day and tour the whole island. A blast.
