On the course!
That's correct! I went bust yesterday "chasing" losses. Should I admit this? Perhaps not, but it was the most undisciplained way to lose, that it needs to be told.

9-21 on the day, liking only two wagers on the day! That's right.....I liked two games all day, and split out.

But, I tossed a little here, and a little there, just to have something to root for. (Another one of my huge downfalls that I have admitted to in the past.) The more I lost, the more I wagered, in hopes of "getting it back".

I went 0-6 to end the night, and ruin my weekend.

That's okay, though, as I do my best handicapping when I have no money to wager!

You read that right.......I really do. I think it's because I can spend more time actually handicapping, and less time sitting in front of the computer and TV picking numbers out of a hat!

So......here's what I see for today:

Pittsburgh -3 o/u 33

This game has two very distinct camps wagering on each side. As just as many people can make a case for each team. I will side with Pitt, as I believe they are the better team. Cleveland has played some impressive ball, and could stay in this game. The thing is, Stewart has looked okay recently, and that bodes well for the Steelers.

The Browns lost a heartbreaker last week, and must have wanted to play this game Monday morning, just to get the taste of that dog out of their mouth! As well as they have been playing, I don't see them getting past the Steelers today. Both tems will be looking to avenge last weeks play, and Pittsburgh has a little more to fall back on.

A lot of guys are touting the under 33 today, but I am not so sure. I think the passing game gets a little more play today than most of you think. 20-17 is the lowest score I see, today.

Cower will be thinking twice about kicking field goals today, and that will be unfortunate. Brown has a great leg, but his toe is in question after last week. Still, I think Cower goes for it instead of trying a fg in certain circumstances today. I don't know how effective the Steeler running game will be today, and that is another reason I think they will move the ball through the air.

I am not "crazy" about this game, but I will rate it out as a small play:

1 unit-----Pittsburgh -3

2 units-----over 33

--------------------------

Indy -3

No James, no problem. Indy cannot keep stubbing their toe....they need to get going at some point. I don't think that Miami can stay with the weapons Indy has. The only chance Miami has, is to get a quick, and big lead.....I don't see that happening.

2 units-----Indy -3

------------------------------------

Carolina +19'

Just a flyer, but do you ever notice how a "substitute" qb seems to play well? Getting that kind of lumber in this situation is worth a unit.

1 unit-----Carolina +19'

---------------------------

Green Bay -2'

I'm tired of hearing about the "mighty bears"....Mighty lucky!

I do worry about taking the Packers on the road, as Favre seems to know how to piss these games away! The thing is, Chicago can't win from behind forever! Both teams have some good defense, and that is always a problem for Brett. Musical quarterbacks in Chicago doesn't seem to be the answer for them, either. I see this game being on the short side of that 37, but the Packers should pull this one off.

I don't think Chicago's defense puts up any points this week, and their offense won't be much better. Since I refuse to make a big recomendation on Favre on the road, I can't give this one too high of a rating. Still, I think Green Bay gets a comfortable win.

ANY Packer win today will at least go towards shutting the yaps of those idiots who broadcast and call in to AM670 in Chicago! (And get me one step closer to winning a hat from BahamaMama!)

There you have it! My "I don't have a dime to wager" wagers!

Good luck, and the gambling gods can kiss my nuts!

YYZ,

sorry to hear about you day yesterday. every six months or so I fall victim to one of those days as well and ALMOST did yesterday, but was somehow able to excersise the will power not too. I don't know what causes it...perhaps a STRONG desire not to lose THAT day....whatever it is, it is the biggest 'TRAP' we need to look out for in what we do.

One of my friends said it best - "I thought I was a good handicapper, but my gambling problem got in the way!"

You'll get back on the horse again and hopefully chip back. I really am sorry for you and can personally relate. It takes guts to post about it here as well, but hopefully your experience will help others

We've all been there. Anyone who says no is probably lying.

One possible solution is to divide your bankroll into two separate categories. One category is for your handicapped games and the other is a gambling for action category.
Consider the two bankroll as two separate entities.

At the end of the season, check and see which bankroll has the most money left in it if any. That should tell you what you need to know.

Ironicly, your journey yesterday has defined my whole year with FB until yesterday when I hit most of what I played. Anyway, be leary of the Panthers today. The sub QB's that do well are only ones people remember. But Carolina is scraping the barrel and probably would consider running the single wing if they had enough RB's healthy. The Rams have been stewing for 2 weeks about the NO debacle and couple that with Carolina beating them here last year, they should roll. If the Rams score their average, that should be enough to cover as I'm not sure how Carolina will score.
JMO and may the tide start turning...

Thanks for the aid, fellas!

The internet is a bad thing for a guy like me.

I can bet all day long, over, and over on shit......that is a huge problem for a dope like me!

When I used to use a street bookie, I could only bet regular game lines, and only once a day.

That always proved best for me. You can't chase that way.....at least not in the same day.

The problem there was, betting on credit cost me every once in a while! "I'm down HOW much this week!?"

Yes, I am a pip! I love to handicap a handful of games a day, but I crave having action, too! I guess that's why I do this for entertainment, and not as a living!

Don't cry for me......although I lost it all, it was not much. (Less than a dime) I know I can't wager serious cash, due to my tendancy to do what I did yesterday.

Keep your heads on straight, boys!

Go get 'em today!

if this helps you.....

betting over the phone on credit is the pits, literally. the man will make you feel like God to take your bets, allow you to bet silly amounts way over your head, etc.

quite the opposite to you, thank God for offshore. now, i have no second thoughts about making 10 dollar bets, do all kinds of wild plays and not spend but a small fraction
of how it used to be. while in miami, i had no second thoughts of laying 500-1000 on a game or a bunch of plays. now, i think i have gone thru 600 in 1 1/2 months, having lots of fun and waiting for one of my wild parlays to come in, and it/they will.

try a different approach, like a couple of small bets on a big parlay or teaser. that may take care of your basic urge and still enjoy it.

take college, for example: i know beans about it and don't care to get involved either, yet i will make a big teaser and/or parlay once a week if i remember. ditto for nfl.

recognizing it is the first step. you will be allright.

You are right, pep.....Most of my "non-handicapped" plays are for peanuts, anyway. I just lost so many yesterday, and then upped the ante. Foolish move, but over now.

I actually don't mind not wagering....I will go quite a spell without doing it, and it doesn't bother me.

I get just more of a thrill in knowing I handicapped a winner, than making money on it. I know some will say that is stupid, but so be it.

See you guys later!

YYZ,
Was where you are 2 weeks ago when all the dogs came barking in. I think I went 1-25 on the week or something like that.
I said to myself I better quit for a week or 2 to regroup and bam....you know what happened. Started Monday out with a winner on Pitt and over...Tuesday...hit for 630...etc...going into saturday I had won back 2188 of the 3000 I had dropped the week before.

Ended up with 1/3 back when the dust settled Sunday night (Thanks Yanks and Saints)...but you know what I'm trying to say...(I hope)

You WILL bounce back. You are a respected name here and I Always read your posts which are informative and honest. I know the feeling...I am feeling much better today than I was 2 weeks ago and 2 weeks from today I hope you are feeling the same...
