So many cappers here to chose from. If folks have not got the time to do any capping. OR many times just don't trust there own work. Well you would think if they have time do to so much typing they could look at a few folks picks here each week and do just fine. But everyone has to undestand there is no easy way. For sure everyone has to understand 60% is rare. Yes some can have hot streaks with runs at 70%. They dont last long. All will come back to a more normal level. And it does quickly in this business. Take three maybe four cappers follow them grade them and use the one that you feel best about. That takes about 15 minutes a week. If you haven't 15 minuets a week. Well that's just hard to believe. And try to leave Fletcher out of the pissing matches. I feel he does really want to help. Was I sad to see him go to pay service. Yes I was. However I believe he is trying to do it right. And don't anyone tell me im sucking up to Fletcher. I have never met the man. Hope to some day soon. I just know from other material he and I exchanged in the past we understand each other. Now everyone try to get along for a week.;)

I have never met Fletcher or Raymond though I as well hope to at the SB party. What I do know is the two of them combined have contributed more to this forum than you can ever hope to. They bring insight to this forum that is helpful to everyone here.

Every handicapper hits good and bad runs. HR, go buy an Intro to Stats book and read about LONG TERM expectation. If you read my page the weekend I went 7-0 NCAA would you assume I was a handicapper who could hit 100%? Likewise, if you read my page Sunday and read 2-4 NFL would you think I sucked? (too bad you would have missed my 4-0 night last night :))

My point is, for lack of a better word, shutup. If you are going to report when he is running bad, I damn well expect you to report back when he is running good.

acehistr8 since I reported nothing I assume your comments were pointed some place else other then me. As for as getting a book at least myself and read about long/short term expectations. I believe many days I wrote the dam thing. You get that way after you turn 60. Life has away of teaching you more then books can sometimes. GL with your plays.

djv, no man, not you, hell your picks have helped me on several occassions!!!

My point was to those that think that one bad day is an indicator of how a handicapper is longterm, I agree 110% with everything you said.

The way I see subscribing to a pay service is

That I am not paying for winners and losers, I'm paying for the research and analysis and saving the time of doing it myself. The last 2 years I used a service and played mostly with but sometimes against the picks. Because I can find write-ups all over the boards here it's kind of silly to pay for the research somewhere else, although I'll admit when Master Capper posts the paid for picks I always check to see if the touts are with or against me.

Also

Even though it won't happen, I wish we could get away from the mud slinging when we have a bad day/week. It is a lot easier to get onto the computer and type out our gripes that may or may not attack another poster here on the site. The problem is, even if your not attacking the person, when someone has a bad day/week any post with his name in it will read like it's bashing him. There are too many good posters to start a holy war in the general forum when we really need them in the handicapping forums. The general forum is for people like me who are terrible cappers and need a place to talk about how terrible we are.

So Cal
There is one handicapping method that I have used in the past with some success. I pick my own consensus staff. I try to keep it to only 3 or 4 people. If one of those cappers has the other side of the play I am planning to make, I call it a VETO and don't make the play. This was taught to me by someone who has spent years researching football. It is relatively simple to follow and will often be successful. For example, let's say I have chosen Nolan, Fletcher, Michael(ibettor) as my consensus. If I plan to bet the ,but one of these three has the other side, I just don't make the bet. These are all guys who spend far more time researching than I do. These are all guys that back up their picks with their own cash. In short, they usually know better than I do, so why buck the trend? It is frustrating when you back off a loser, but I saed myself more often than not.

The source of the email soliciting new customers.....none other than JT Sneaks. Funny how JT doesn't keep a record of his plays, when he used to post at this site he always kept an accurate record. That website of his was supposed to have been developed last spring according to previous emailings soliciting his service.

Ferdville great advise. I agree 1000%. Said many times. Pick 3/4 folks follow them. Use your own work for a double check. Throw out a game or two when there is a differant opinion. And your ready to go. Use your money management. End of season you should be up. Now if you do no work of your own. Well then you just have to trust there work. Now if they have a down year. And if your watching 3/4 of them you may not ever have that happen. But if it does. Don't blame them. You picked them. They did not pick you. Ferdville, these are general comments not at all pointed at you. Your advise is good. ;)

djv - agree with yur points. Have to constantly re-evaluate your sources. No disrespect intended, but good example would be difference in Nolan's NFL last year as opposed to previous year. Also have to look to see if your consensus guys are changing style of plays, etc. Agree with you 100%.

Nice post Highroller ... anyone who thinks you are taking up space or being a sore loser is a moron. You are just trying to warn people of something that much more often than not is a scam. I just read this today after a friend told me about it cause I rarely read anything on here since so many people who used to post here are now selling picks. I realize it's a free country but I am nonetheless appalled and disgusted.

I do not doubt anything you said is true. Those who bash it are likely part of the problem (the scammers themselves, or friends paid to support them, etc....)

I agree with the person who said if this helps just one person not be scammed then it was worth the space. Scammers suck in all aspects of life and unfortunately, there are many in this world!

The ones who usually complain are the ones who piggyback & want want want but don't want to give anything back in return. Some services are scams & deserve to be treated as such but not all are yet the piggybackers would never admit it.

I might give the guy a call so I can fade all of his picks.

If you can find a guy who can't hit anything, it's just as good.

I always love a player called MUSH!!!!
